It's important to note that a significant reason why people in the Middle East hate America/Americans is because you support despots while taking about freedom and democracy. Semblances of democracy exist in Nigeria but I'd rather live in a democracy than in a dictatorship in all circumstances. Philosopher kings do not exist. Living under a dictatorship is akin to making yourself a slave to the whims of another. At least in a functioning democracy, you have rights and some say about how you want to live your life. You also lessen the chances that you'll be under the sway of a despot who despises your ethnicity

It doesn't work that way at all though in Afrika. Why take a foreign concept that took thousands of years to develop and force it on underdeveloped countries just born yesterday (the last century)? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't really know about Senegal, I'm not directly against it if it can work, but with a lot of Afrikan countries, I think modern democracy is unworkable at this stage.

As for Ivory Coast, didn't they war over a vote?
