Being light skinned probably has more benefits in Africa or the Caribbean where most people are dark.

Black America is not a nation. America is the nation and being Black in it is hard whether you dark skinned or light skinned.

Bleaching is not common

The likelihood of you visiting any African or Caribbean nation for a week and seeing a bleached person is slim to none.

It wouldn't have worked, you can pretty much tell if a person is bleaching or not.
We already had paper bag test, "my family got indian in it", and generational debarge families. a bleacher would have got no respect and probably shamed here. in short other forms of colorism and self hate already got locked into the culture before bleaching caught on
