Such as where?

I live in Chicago, and I know a few people who got their first jobs in the outskirts of the suburbs... Look up hospitals that are 1-2 hours away from wherever you go to school or want to live, and see what pops up. It's almost guaranteed that there is less competition there than closer to the city's core.

Less desirable to live/further away from major research/teaching areas = less competition for nursing jobs.

Good luck breh.

I need serious advice brehs
I'm at a cross roads in life :francis:

Do I go to Uni/College and get a STEM degree (If I do I have to upgrade I was lazy as fukk in HS)

Or do I pursue an apprenticeship most likely Electrician or Millwright. I know Millwrights translate well into the engineering sector. I'm already doing some work related to this and it's both physically and mentally taxing.
I see some of these guys and realize I don't want to work like this for the rest of my life.

I work with Power Engineers, Electricians, Mechanics, Millwrights, Welders, Plumbers. So I ask for advice all the time, but the advice always varies: go to school, pursue trade, no go to school, etc...
But I make 22/hr, which I feel is good for a 19 yr old. I live at home too.

But at the same time I feel so stupid for not being in college like the rest of my peers, embarrassed even.:snoop:
People always telling (not asking) me : Why ain't you in school breh?

I've always envisioned myself as that clean cut black man in a suit.
Not wearing a hard hat, safety glasses and turning wrenches.

I see the power engineers in the boiler room and they tell me they do fukk all but monitor the systems and occasionally adjust things, If something goes wrong they call on of us.
If I pursue an apprenticeship I have to go to school anyways. Won't be nearly as expensive as getting a degree, in total the 4 years will cost a couple thou really.

I feel conflicted, angry and other myriad of emotions.

I need help brehs :sadcam:

Good job homie. You making more $ than 99% of the kids ya age. What do you do for work and what are your plans for school

Been a certified electrician for a while now ...and I :eat:
how would u suggest a young breh get on the path to becoming an electrician...as a side gig:ohhh:
Look at your local adult education classes assuming you're in US. Some programs are less than 18 months. If they are longer those 2 years will fly by and it's for your future and you'll look back being grateful that you did it plus making $$.
but can it be done after 5 pm :ohhh:

First step would be to go to your local UAW electrician building and fill out an app for an apprenticeship.
Then from there they'll have you take a test and then from there they'll give you your options as far as companies that are taking on.
Mind you when you start, your going to be a gopher and taking a ton of shyt, but if you can get through with that and are willing to learn you'll eat well breh .

Depending on the programs yes some of them are specifically for working adults. If you really want something, you'll make the time for it...that's my motto.
