 @ all of this

1. An Engineer can not fix and build to the extent or expertise of a Tech

There's Engineers who build cars and trucks. Go in any business. Look at the people in the shop who maintain them and make sure they are safe and running smoothly. Bet you by golly wow they are Techs

Engineers don't necessarily "fix". The correct term is construct. They build and design newer products when something is outdated. They rarely do physical maintenance. Technicians do that, they fix and also build

2. A Scientist and an Engineer are two different things. LOL @ you not knowing the difference :pachaha:
Google the term computer engineer and get back to me u stupid motherfukker

i picked up a trade in high school as i worked in a small butcher-shop for years. it was the best job i ever had and i should have tried to find something similar in college aside from bullshyt school jobs. i went to college for a useless liberal arts degree :manny: and it was a complete waste of time and i wish i would have done that over again but as soon as i got out i flipped my basic computer knowledge into an entry-level IT job at a spot with name recognition in my city which treated me real well. after that i had the work experience (and bullshytting experience) to flip that into a more lucrative gig with a better title and more opportunity. now i am in a safe gig at a huge institution that lets me do my own thing as a consultant which i dig but i am on the lookout to move up to something managerial now that i have a house of my own. i have a side gig teaching yoga but that's more for me to be healthy and pocket extra money on the side.

after working for awhile longer and finally getting some real money stacked up again (spent a lot of it getting my house) i am gonna say fukk it and buy a hot dog cart.

i guess i have three trades technically :patrice:

Trade is a great thing, but you have to be good at what you do and physically capable.

I tried some hardcore trade work like cement laying, it's a grind my body couldn't keep up. If you're not physically gifted try some of the easier trade. If you work hard and are good, you'll make a persons salary in 4 months cash.

hit your local community college http://www.sierracollege.edu/academics/divisions/business-tech/construction-energy-tech.php
if you have a relative apprentice under them on the side & if they're not a pos they'll wanna give you the keys to the business.
If not I'm tellin you school experience for a semester & proven work experience you'll get interviews out the ass on ziprecruiter, snagajob etc.

Same thing on the medical side, you can't avoid school though :shaq2:
Don't fuk around n go to a school like Heald then they become bankrupt :deadmanny:

I use my pop as an example: Served 23 years for murder. Learned the carpentry trade. Worked for himself and made 6 figures. Never had to worry about being fired or begging for a job.

If you're not opening a business or going to college for a real degree, trades are the way to go.

No offense but a computer scientist/engineer >>>><a tech.

A tech can fix shot but an engineer can fix and build a New computer. A computer scientist engineer can do a tech's job but a tech can't do his.

And to this thread the medical field is where the cake at.
:whoa:medical field is where the college debt is at

I'm assuming you're in your mid 20s?

How much is school and what city?

I hear in New York there's plenty of nursing opportunities. What other cities out there?

Not entirely true, NYC/Chicago/San Fran/any influential, bustling city have fierce competition for nursing jobs. Hospitals usually want a few years of experience before you can get hired in large urban areas. However, the sheer # of jobs in those cities do make for the best opportunities in intensive care, trauma, emergency medicine, etc and probably bode well if you ever want to leave the bed side and get into management or expand your clinical scope.

Now, if you attend a university with a hospital, it's easier to find a job thereafter because those institutions like to hire their own.

The easiest route I've heard is to find a job in a less appealing area like the suburbs or country and put in your time that way. Then, when you have a year or two, get into a excellent hospital in a city.

I need serious advice brehs
I'm at a cross roads in life :francis:

Do I go to Uni/College and get a STEM degree (If I do I have to upgrade I was lazy as fukk in HS)

Or do I pursue an apprenticeship most likely Electrician or Millwright. I know Millwrights translate well into the engineering sector. I'm already doing some work related to this and it's both physically and mentally taxing.
I see some of these guys and realize I don't want to work like this for the rest of my life.

I work with Power Engineers, Electricians, Mechanics, Millwrights, Welders, Plumbers. So I ask for advice all the time, but the advice always varies: go to school, pursue trade, no go to school, etc...
But I make 22/hr, which I feel is good for a 19 yr old. I live at home too.

But at the same time I feel so stupid for not being in college like the rest of my peers, embarrassed even.:snoop:
People always telling (not asking) me : Why ain't you in school breh?

I've always envisioned myself as that clean cut black man in a suit.
Not wearing a hard hat, safety glasses and turning wrenches.

I see the power engineers in the boiler room and they tell me they do fukk all but monitor the systems and occasionally adjust things, If something goes wrong they call on of us.
If I pursue an apprenticeship I have to go to school anyways. Won't be nearly as expensive as getting a degree, in total the 4 years will cost a couple thou really.

I feel conflicted, angry and other myriad of emotions.

I need help brehs :sadcam:
