It's just funny to me how quick you guys are to cry racism. The boosters wanted Kevin Sumlin. Red McCombs woulda been hype to get him

LOL at this typical c@c flip response. First off...there is nothing in this article that says "the boosters want Kevin Sumlin". This article does nothing but point out coaches that Texas would be interested in. It does not point out one quote from one booster about one coach. So how on earth did you flip this into "Red McCombs would been hype to get him"? There is no such quote from Red, so how do you know? There is no quote from any booster about anything relating to Kevin Sumlin, so how do you know?

I do know for fact that Red does not want Charlie to be the coach, cause that is a direct quote from Red, and I have not seen anywhere where Red says "I didn't say that."

I do know that Red does not think Charlie is good enough to even be a head coach, cause he was quoted as saying such.

Now with that out of the way...the real person to watch here is Patterson, because it is becoming clearer by the day that he is the one who "went out on a limb" for Charlie. And Charlie will recruit, make no mistake about that. Charlie will get the best athletes out of Texas and some of the best out of Florida. Charlie does need a good offenisve coordinator, but why this is a knock against him is beyond me cause Mack Brown was not an offensive genius...

To me, this is more about Patterson choosing his guy, so WHEN Charlie gets Texas rolling again he can tell "the boosters" to go fukk themselves, because if you follow Texas football at all, you would know that Patterson is tired of being looked at as "the boosters" puppet.

And the average Texas fan only cares about Texas winning, they could give a fukk if Charlie is black. I know the c@ciest of Texas c@cs and every one of them are like...well...not my first choice...but...if he starts winning...I don't give a fukk...

shyt Texas is THE football state. Charlie wins game and he gonna go down as the man who brought Texas back.

shyt Vince Young still a hero in Texas.

And in the end, of Charlie wins, Red won't care either...shyt Red will come down here and pay Charlie his money by hand if Charlie wins

Relax breh :whoa: I wasn't being literal about McCombs wanting Sumlin. I assumed that he would want him because Sumlin was getting looks from everyone. (shyt even the NFL.) :manny: You seem to know Texas football more than I do. So I'll fall back on this one. My point is that I think Sumlin would have been universally lauded as a hire, and therefore McCombs comment about Strong wasn't racist.

Reb - all bullshyt aside. This is not a debate. Far as I know, he could be the biggest @sshole walking the earth.. I don't have evidence either way. It's wrong to take this one comment, albeit underhanded, and label someone the way you've done.
It's a clear debate for it. You think I don't know folks in positions like Charlie Strong? He eats and shyts just like the other middle and upper class black folks I know. And you think it's by "chance" that these folks from all walks of life telling me the same thing about white folks questioning their qualifications although their resume saying otherwise has nothing to do with this and I should set that part of the black experience aside in this country in order to make you happy :stopitslime:

Somehow...this mentality stops with a sports hire cuz it's sports. :childplease:

Nope. If Charlie wins everyone will fall in line. Mack Brown was a nice guy...Mack Brown was great with the media...Mack Brown was brought in by the boosters and under protection by the boosters...and when Mack Brown stopped recruiting players and stopped winning games...Mack Brown lost his job...This move is all about recruiting and winning...and if there are 2 things that Charlie knows how to do...is recruit...and win...

Right now, just in the Dallas area...just in Plano, just in Farmers Branch, just in McKinney, just in Sanger...there are a shytload of football players who Mack Brown never once ever thought about recruiting for whatever reason...who within the next 6 months will have Charlie Strong sitting in their living room on some "you from Plano and you thinking about NOT playing for Texas" :stopitslime: type shyt

my point is Red did not question's Charlie coachie qualifications. from what I understand, he's more so regretting that Texas had to "settle" for him instead of a more "high-profile" coach

but as far as I know

he could be an old racist CAC as well.. I was just taught to give someone the benefit of doubt

:mindblown:
"I think he would make a great position coach, maybe a coordinator."

Here is him saying what Charlie is qualified for.

He didn't "question it" he "answered it."

I agree, but Red is also the only booster who outright said that Mack should not be fired, and it the only booster who outright praised Saban. No other booster did any of those things publicly. So was what Red said about race? Yep, I would say so. But, it was also about him not liking the fact that he backed Mack Brown and Mack got fired anyway, and he showered Saban with praise, and Saban is staying in Alabama.

"I think he would make a great position coach, maybe a coordinator." AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WHICH I HOLD IN SUCH HIGH ESTEEM I CAN ONLY PERCEIVE HIGH PROFILE COACH OF THE LIKE OF JOHN GRUDEN TO BE FIT FOR THE POSITION

Here is him saying what Charlie is qualified for.

He didn't "question it" he "answered it."

Can you brain process the difference ?

His delusions of grandeur about the prestige of his alma mater has nothing to do with Charlie's coaching qualifications
