How U Luv That???
I stand by my opinion that Tm101 is the most influential album of the 2000s.
this is an in-the-moment thread....10 years ago, we would have been saying this about crunk music....and where is that sht now?
Crunks hype lasted for about 2 years..trap has been the dominant sound in rap since 2005. What other subgenre lasted that long?

this is an exaggeration to the highest degree. Trap has not been the dominant sound since '05.....crunk was still hot then...and by '07, snap music lorded over trap. Since '09, "swag" rap has been the dominant sound. Trap has had its lane of course, but it hasnt been the dominant sub genre... Not by a long shot. The two biggest trap stars --- Jeezy and Gucci, have been a wrap for years.

Jeezy sold 800k on his last release.
Ross went gold.
2 chainz sold 700k last year.
Future is one of the biggest stars in the game.
Mike Will has produced countless top 10 records with trap beats in the past year...Miley Cyrus and Rhianna are singing over 808s and rapid hi hats.
Listen to any relevant east coast rapper and tell me they dont have trap inspired records.

In what universe are Ross and Future trap rappers? 2 chainz is also a stretch. I would consider him more of a swag rapper than trap.
Are you fukkin serious right now?Are you fukkin serious right now?
LOL....u can cherry pick a few songs from their category that are trap influenced, but they are not trap rappers. They are all pop rappers who borrow from different elements, and most importantly try to make their sound accessible to as wide of an audience as possible. Ross' in house go to producers for years were the Justice League. Those are "trap" producers to you? Future...no way. And again, Chainz has a lot of pop sensibilities in his music to just be labeled as a "trap" rapper.
unfortunately yes.
Even Jay is rappin over quasi-attempts at trap music beats "Tom Ford", Kanye too pretty much in 2012.
Everyone's drum programming is trap influenced now. The superfast hi-hat & snare rolls.
I'm saying though..even Ye and Jay had trap beats on WTT.
I dont remember any on there but I'm referring to stuff like "Mercy"
