i think "trap music" is being too broadly categorized honestly....

And crunk is the most influential by DEFINITION cus it opened the door for "Trap" music.

Not as many people doing trap music as yall making it out to be though.... Yall confusing "south" with "trap"

You're talking production, and I would have to say no. G-Funk and Boom-Bap are better answers...

In terms of sub genre Gangsta Rap wins by a mile.

Boom Bap? yes. G-funk? yes and no. G-Funk was the most influential in terms of commercial success as a substyle of HipHop. West Coast G-Funk is the sound that really put hiphop into the charts and dominate but Boom-bap was more influential. Boom-Bap rap since it was based on Funky drummer (G-Funk was based on synthesized Funk) breaks ended up being more influential because it also went into R&B and Electronica like HipHouse, Drum and Bass, Jungle, Hardcore, UK Garage, 2 Step etc...

In the modern sense it would be Trap/Crunk/Southern Bass as the most influential style hands down. Every other commercial I hear on TV has a Trap/Southern HipHop Bass influenced beat in it:mjlol:.

bounce music is being severely underrated...:francis:

Crazy that bounce New Orleans sound started in New York too... Jamaica Queens to be specific..Trap right now is the most copied sound but I think DJ Mustard/New West Coast sound is slowly gonna reach that point as a lot of pop artists stealing that formula right now.. New York set down the foundation for a lot of the synth rap but it was hated on by the sample purists so the South took it, embraced it and elevated it

GTFO

EVERY city has their own club music.

Detroit - Ghetto Tech
Chicago - House
DC - Go-go
Balitmore - Bmore House/Club
Northeast - Some Dancehall
etc etc

It's a reason none of this local ass shyt has blown up nation wide. You might get a influenced track from an artist here or there but come on. Bounce is in that same category.

The staying power of Trap is some mind boggling shyt.
