Tim Bonner that DE had me like :heh: every time he showed up goin 'Mih Britney Mih Britney I aint got no homework :lolbron:'

That man got some kinda learning or attention disability. She would be talking to him and the nikka would IMMEDIATELY, turn his attention to something else. One episode he started smackin the other dude's hat while she was asking him about class. lmao

But it's crazy how they would do that with school but be locked in to their coach on the field.

Got tired so I've only watched Episode 1 of the new season so far. (I saw Season 1).

I like this show but goodness, it's so sad how uneducated some of these kids are. Well, to be fair, some are just not interested in school...which is different than being dumb.

But some of these kids are friggin dumb.

:francis:
Not trying to be funny, but I think a number of these players are ID. In a previous life I spent a lot time working with ID students, and what you see from the players at EMCC is what happens when you don't give a kid with ID the the educational support and aid that they need at a young age.

Unfortunately a lot of these guys are from poor rural Mississippi towns where they didn't have access to the necessary tools to be successful academically. And because they could play football they just got passed along.

* Isiah's insight into Buddy's personality was exactly right. He just doesn't understand his players, where they come from, their upbringing, etc. In turn, he can't really relate to them, so his only way of trying to get through to them is to blow up. For example, Isiah actually needed the treatment that Kam got from Buddy, and Kam needed the Isiah treatment. I also like how Isiah pointed out how a coach's self-interest will come into play and ultimately you'll see in them that they're just using you for your athletic ability, and as a means to an end. That whole, "Molding young men," is one of the biggest lies told in all of sports in relation to college football.

* It's kind of a microcosm of sports injuries too. Grown ass men telling kids they're faking, and they're not hurt because their livelihood is dependent upon them. shyt is brutal and sad.

* People are funny as fukk. I'm a lifelong FSU fan; going to be an alum twice over soon and I was reading their thread on this season on the biggest FSU site, and they were saying shyt like, "I could barely understand them.... They make me lose faith in our education system," and so on. If you switched most people's life circumstance(s) with Isiah, Rollie, DJ Law, et al., they don't even make it to Scooba. They'd already be dead or in jail before they get there. I mean, as a dude that's the first in my family to go college, little or no family resources, a high school dropout -- that whole urban tale -- it was a Herculean effort to get to this point. Moreover, I'm naturally smart as hell, my mom wasn't on drugs or no shyt like that and it was still hard as fukk. In terms of socioeconomic status and sheer probability someone like Isiah beat incredible and overwhelming odds to even make it to college. :wow:

* Misses Wagner may or may not have been sleeping with players. I will say this, it's indicative of our depravity as a society that the first thing a lot of people think is some sexual dynamic is afoot. We automatically have to make these sexual projections into situations. For me, she seems like a woman that genuinely cares and understands the plight of these dudes in a way that someone like Buddy never could. I also noticed that the players she was closest to were the players that were "seemingly" in search of something: Law, Rollie, Dakota, Tim and so on. She's not going to have the same relationship with a Deandre or John Franklin because they're not looking for the same nurturing consciously or unconsciously. She seems like a good person, regardless.

* What I find interesting about Kam is his great uncle/dad seems like a solid dude. He seems like the type of man that would cultivate the appropriate qualities in a young black man; but Kam was still a dikkhead despite it.

* Did Deandre throw 60 touchdowns? Goddamn.

I totally agree with switching how he treated Isiah and Kam.
But at the end of the day Kam is a D1 prospect that came from Penn State and Isiah wasn't.

I think Kam acts the way he acts cause he never got over his mom giving him up to his uncle.

1st Round Playoff Exits
Man this shyt crazy. I have so many personal connections with this season of the show.

  • Rivers and my younger cousin played on the D-line together in HS (my cuz is a yr older, but their line was beastly that yr). They were saying his mom always been on one lol
  • Coahoma CC is in my family hometown of Clarksdale. Them dudes prolly my kin:russ:
  • Done met/ran into a few coaches on both seasons thru my line of work

@klutch2381 had the best take on this season in this thread. Buddy doesn't get his players or know how to connect with them. Davern got the qualities of a great coach, because (1) he knows how to talk to them (2) motivate them (3) get on them if they mess up.

I'm rollin at Buddy's backslide from episode 1 (no cussin, pushups if he cussed, talkin bout the Bible) to same ol' Buddy by the end of the season

By the end everybody was tired of the cameras, I hope season 3 is about another school.
He called someone a dikkhead at practice 20 minutes into the first ep.

From being around sports and athletes a big part of my life.. it's seems like Kam is never really gonna get it until it's too late ... he had a great chance to grow up and mature as a man at emcc and he did none of that. He's gonna be one of those players that had all the talent in the world but never really got it together mentally.

Mih Brittany basically laid out what she thinks is wrong with him. I remember she said that some teacher he had growing up probably discouraged him from learning & studying, so he acts that way because he thinks he won't be able to do the work when he's capable of it if he just puts his mind to it. Unfortunately, that shyt happens all the time in school with shytty teachers :francis:

What pisses me off the most about Chauncey is he knew what was a stake when he got busted the 3rd time.

One of my close friends was good friends with him. Wanted to be his agent.:mjlol: Was heated as fukk when he got arrested. I was with him in Athens the day Chauncey got arrested. Breh looked at his phone like :damn::dahell::mjcry:. He was like "I dont why dumbass chauncey didnt call me:mjcry:"
