I agree its not a guarentee that you become a championship team. The truth that makes it different than the Wizards is you make the decision to move forward when you have a transcendent talent, and not just an all star. Like john wall is really good and an all star, but hes not transcendent. Ben simmons is projected to be transcendent, Joel embiid if healthy is transcendent (fukk our medical staff btw).. you just cant settle with good, you got to be great.....
Sixers were on that treadmill like you said for 12 years before this process.. We would always add compliment pieces to get a little better, rather than try to be great (trading for out of prime glenn robinson, trading for busted Chris webber, Keith van horn, signing elton brand who had no chance to put over the hump, always drafting 9-18)... We were not going anywhere with a core of iggy, turner, thad, lou will and hawes, blowing it up is what is best. In philly, it hurt short term but now this Sixers team is really the only team the town has hope in today.. We view them as the best chance at getting a ship, and in Philly that is what we care about. We dont care to be competitive, we want a champion
