Prince Devitt, who was the Jr Heavyweight champ at the time, an incredibly over face, and the ace of the jr division, went heel citing a glass ceiling in place for gaijin in the company. He recruited some of the unaffiliated gaijin. Fale, Tonga, the final piece being Karl Anderson (also incredibly over as a face, had just come short in challenging for the IWGP title). In simplest terms, they're a traditional American heel stable, the reason it's so significant is the sort of thing is rare in big time puro. Interfering in matches and shyt, and especially at the rate they do it, is pretty much a thing that isn't done.

They've added a few members, like when Gallows' contract ran up with TNA he went over to form a tag team with Anderson. And late last year they brought over the Young Bucks. Devitt was on his way out to go t the WWE at the same time the talks with the now free agent AJ were starting. So on Devitt's last show, AJ came out at the end and attacked then champion Okada calling him out for the title.

In the match against Okada, Yujio Takahashi (a member of Okada's squad and top face team CHAOS) turned and helped AJ win, pretty much completing the team as is.

The way the Bullet Club is set up, they have a challenger for every title. AJ is the ace and the IWGP threat, Fale is IC title dude, Yujiro the NEVER belt, Anderson and Gallows the heavyweight tag title, and the Bucks the Jr tag title. This summer they held all but 1 title (the jr title). When Devitt left they never added a jr guy to replace him, but Kenny Omega just got added to the squad so they're set up to try and completely sweep the company again.

As the stable developed, they pretty much became equal parts homage and satire of the KLIQ with the "Two Sweet" hand sign, and after the Bucks came over, the "suck it" taunts. They've gotten super over in Japan thanks to basically being like, 90's Concentrate for Japanese fans who didn't really get to experience that first hand. That and of course AJ, Anderson, The Bucks, and formerly Devitt are amazing in the ring to go with the fukkery.

They've kinda hit a home run with the gimmick, as it's something that casual fans in both countries can instantly get into. The ONLY people who had anything negative to say about them are the SUPER elitist smarky purosnobs who felt like they spoke on behalf of Japanese people :heh:

Jarrett and D'Amore are basically the DiBiase/Rude of the squad.
Great write up, breh

This shyt got me up to speed as well

:salute:

@Don Hollywood Herrera how do you typically follow along? Like is there a place where we can easily watch/stay up to date on things? Or even go back and watch past stuff?
Pretty much everything that makes tape is on DailyMotion nowadays. Links are always posted in the Japanese Wrestling Discussion thread. If you check one of the matches from the recent show, you'll see it's probably been uploaded by Original Bonski. He drops tons of puro on NJ.

And then this site: http://www.puroresufan.com/njpw/ to keep up on news, and for breakdowns of story developments that of course you couldn't catch unless you spoke Japanese. They also give updates on the house shows that don't make tape and any developments that happen there.

And this site: http://theditch.us/ if you want old stuff. Ditch is kinda like puro's encyclopedia page. He has important stuff dating back the 60/s/70's to now
