brehs, i've been crunching some numbers on the ESPN Playoff Machine (http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine) ...and not only do I think we make the playoffs, but it says we have the 3rd seed :ohhh:

Bear with me here.

GB: W vs Patriots, W vs Falcons, W @ Buffalo, W @ Tampa, W vs Lions = 13-3

Dallas: W @ Chicago, L @ Philly, L vs Indy, W @ Washington = 10-6

Philly: W vs Seattle, W vs Dallas, W @ Washington, W @ Giants = 13-3

Detroit: W vs Tampa, W vs Minny, W @ Chicago, L @ GB = 11-5

Seattle: L @ Philly, L vs 49ers, W @ Zona, W vs Rams = 10-6

Arizona: W @ Falcons, L vs Chiefs, W @ Rams, L vs Seattle, L @ 49ers = 11-5

49ers: W @ Oakland, W @ Seattle, W vs Chargers, W vs Cardinals = 11-5

Now, obviously we'd have to win out for this to happen, and given the way we're playing a W vs the Raiders isn't even guaranteed, but our season is far from over. If we somehow find our way from here on out, this could be a wild ride :blessed:

The games that are most liable to flip are Dallas-Philly, Zona-Chiefs, and Seattle-Niners. If the former 2 flip, it doesn't matter, we're still in. But if we lose at Seattle, we'd need Zona to lose against the Rams for us to get in.

Thoughts?

Unless we actually get better on offense and not get 5 ugly/lucky ass wins, I'm not bothered by not making the playoffs :manny:

Niners ain't built for the playoffs and if we did squeak in, we not doing much. Stop that. I'd rather miss the offs so we can start making the real adjustments that need to be made, a playoff appearance puts bandaids on gunshots.

This.

I disagree, we're definitely built for the playoffs. We have a real December roster, hard nosed guys on O and D. All of this is contingent on the 49ers finding their way, and the way the beat writers are talking, something is going to go down before next week. Either way, there's no way in hell we go into next season with the same coaching staff, so changes will be made regardless.

The Yay
One source told CSNBayArea.com that Baalke was the last person resembling an ally that Harbaugh had among the team’s hierarchy. And that changed a couple weeks ago when Harbaugh alienated Baalke to the point that it became unanimous a change should be made for the 2015 season.

harbaugh is done I think. for better or for worse.

hes the best coach we had since seifert, I wish him all the best and he deserves a hearty thanks for jumpstarting this franchise and bringing Fangio in. we now need someone who can utilize the engine more.

i was at the game and even though we still have a shot at the playoffs, last night felt like a potential franchise altering loss

the offense has been a major issue all year and may have to be blown up. it's gonna be a very interesting offseason to see who stays and who goes

No offense, but you sound like a typical taking head. Built for December? What about us has said that? In the past three years of being good again, we never were a December team, we were as eons team. Hard nosed guys? Who? We're banged up on d, crabtree is almost pedestrian late in the season, our o line is schitzo, Davis hasn't been a factor all season...we're not built for shyt this year let alone post season. I'm aging we're 04/05 levels of inept, but we are not the team we were 1-2 years ago. We had our window,

nah b, I meant our personnel. December is when the running game dominates, and our roster is a run football team. Everything about our offensive personnel, from our o-line to our wrs is built for late season runs, hence why we've done them 3 years in a row. We're 12-3 in December under Harbaugh. We're not a finesse offense that's gonna be bogged down by cruddy weather. Same with our D, our strength has always been our front 7 and stopping the run. Boldin, Gore, Staley, Iupati, Cowboy, Bethea, (Pat/Bow). There is no doubting the toughness of these dudes. The team is literally built to be suited for late season football.

But what I was saying was about our roster, not our performance this season. I agree that we (aka the offense) have look like dogshyt crap this season, and the only way we even sniff the playoffs is if we make some major changes immediately. If we continue the way we've been playing the entire season, we're obviously out and deservedly so. All I'm saying is that we have the personnel on the team to make it happen. Our problems are mental, not physical.

Yeah i`m thinking he's done too, only possible way he can come back is a SB win.

I wonder what this team would be like if there wasn't the Harb/Baalke beef looming over it.

Who can we go after? Who should we go after?

Inside the organization: Fangio or Tomsula.

Outside the organization: Pep Hamilton or Jon Gruden (maybe)
