Lakers have Emmanuel Mudiay ranked #2 on their board (ahead of Okafor)

it would be if I didnt see the improvements from Wall, Rose, and Westbrook. A shot can easily be developed. I mean hell, J. Kidd developed a 3-point ball at 37. The only guy that comes to mind who just didnt improve was Rondo, but I think thats due to his freakishly big hands and refusal to change his shooting form.
Tyreke would be another one ... I really dont know much about Mudiay, but its hard not to see alot of Tyreke when I watch his game tape

I dunno though, its a fukking crapshoot for the most part

I feel like Okafor/Towns are pretty sure bets though

Mudiay is a guard who cant shoot though, thats a massive red flag, no?

You can teach shooting it can be improved.

From the little that I've read is that he has good form just needs reps. He shot 35% from 3 in China and shot 47%

Size, Court Vision, Athleticism those are great traits to have and cant be taught. The fact that he shot 47% from the field tells me he's got good shot selection as well.

His 3pt sample size was incredibly small in China, he misses two of those makes and suddenly it's sub 30%

That FT% is a bit alarming to me.. I read it's been a problem since HS

Mudiay is DEFINITELY ahead of Russell. way more athletic. way better slasher. better lateral quickness. better defensive potential. all Russell has on him is a jumpshot and that can be learned more easily than it is to learn how to become faster, stronger, or more athletic.

All this is gravy but when you're just a straight up baller and can put points on the board like Russell then all of this can be ignored. The MVP frontrunners this year, Curry and Harden, aren't extraordinary athletes, not dominant defenders, but they ball.

I think Mudiay and Russell are equals, I wish I was able to see Mudiay in college to have a better gauge of his talent.

Harden has bull strength, can change directions in an instant and is great vertically.

Curry I agree.

Imagine Russell playing on stacked squads like Duke and Kentucky?

Winslow about to go top 6 based on Okafur alone.

You nikkas kill me. Russell will be a top 2 player in thia draft behind Okafur.

And Russell struggled to get separation from tj McConnell and finish over tarczewski

I think he will be good but his splits against top competition look bad

That's why he's being drafted as a point guard, because when he went against top competition, they took away his scoring and he became a dominant passer instead. At Ohio St. he had to play SG but at point he'll be able to do more damage

He jumps high, sure, but I've never seen him display a consistent, killer first step the likes of Russ

he's as fast, jumps higher, taller/longer, first step isn't slow by any means either. Biggest thing is just his strength which will come with time.

It's not even just the jumping and first step as much as it's the motor and the endurance that's essentially impossible to compete with. The closest thing Ive seen to Russ athletically was Baron Davis but he didn't have that same motor. Iverson had everything but Westbrook's strength/height. Eric Bledsoe is athletic as fukk as well but doesn't have that same motor.

I was gonna touch on that but didn't want to deviate too far from strictly talking about athleticism

but yeah, Russ is truly one of a kind

Lol how many pg have took teams to titles? lakers and majority of the league have won with a dominant/servicable big man. No way you leave a 6'10 big man with okafors skill set on the board if you have the opportunity to draft him. Boy can be penciled in for 20 8 3 and he's still a kid. Okafor will be the type to make every one around him better because you either double or watch him foul/kill your front court. Okafor will be a Laker book that unless minny takes him.
