He's a private company, he doesn't have to reveal any sales numbers. He would only have to reveal sales numbers to potential investors and people who have already invested so they can see a possible ROI. You're acting like shoes don't sale for 500 dollars....yeah they are established brands, but most of those companies weren't selling their products at low price points to begin with. He's selling a niche market shoe.
And I'll say this again, people keep buying the same 800 dollar phone year after year with no real innovation in software or design, yet these phone companies aren't being called stupid and the people buying the phones aren't being called retarded. They are businesses and consumers. There are people out here with money to waste and they will buy those shoes solely based off the price and the fact that it becomes a status symbol. Same reason someone will buy a Benz when a Camry will get them to the same exact place in the same exact manner.
And Lavar Ball's way of doing business may not work, but he sure has people talking about it and that's the majority of the battle in business from the start. If he was white, he would be lauded as a marketing and business maverick who is doing something great for his kids. But since he's Black, he's just an "arrogant, loud mouth ****** with the audacity to sell 500 dollar shoes and exploits his kids for his own gain."
Initially, I wasn't fond of Lavar Ball, but I've changed my opinion because he's doing what most people applaud other businessmen for doing. Hell, people elected a president that acts and talks like him...

I still think he's a clown who is hurting his kids, but I have never brought a shoe to market and have never managed the career of an NBA baller so I readily accept the fact that I could very well be wrong.
To me, it ain't even about whether you believe he will fail or not, it's about the people scoffing at paying a premium price for his shoe whilst proclaiming they'd buy some CaC designer's sneakers for the same or more. You're not getting some amazing quality for those prices, you're paying for the brand. Then you got others (like Shaq) disguising their hate as looking out for poor folks criticizing him for setting the price so high. Man gtfoh, if they can't afford it, they can't afford it. There's plenty of affordable footwear out there. Why is it only a problem when a Black man wants to target a higher disposable income market (I've made the same argument when people try to shyt on Jordan for the price of his kicks)? Fashion is such a brand conscientious industry that the markups are insane. But if you don't care about bands, you could get stylish quality clothes for very low money. nikkas are acting like he's price gouging with some basic necessity and poor folks are gonna have to spend their last penny on them.
