Atlanta dumped Trae Young and moved on swiftly. A vastly different approach compared to how Chicago handled LaVine's departure.
The reason that Atlanta didn't feel obligated to hold out for some magical Young deal is because they have New Orleans' 1st Rounder... unprotected. They aren't solely dependent on their own pick to net a great value in next year's draft.
Chicago clearly has the worst front office in the NBA. I don't have to provide the history much, I'll just say, they're terrible because they draft toolsy athletic project players year after year for a coach that wants to win right now. Can someone help me understand why Billy Donovan is coaching this team? You have a coach that refuses to take a step back for the greater good of the organization, and want to win games, but draft guys that can't contribute to winning... you fight tooth and nail for a 10 seed appearance without any vision at all.
This last draft is really the cherry on top for their incompetence. It's rare that you see Draft Night deals where a team does some shyt like New Orleans did. Unprotected 1st from an organization that is aimless and projected to be dogshyt... and you elect to draft Noa Essengue instead of just trading down with goofy ass Joe Dumars and fleece them out of what could turn into AJ, Peterson, Boozer twin or Wilson.

The kicker?... if you make that trade, you can go on with the try hard season and go for the Play-In again with a top 4 pick loading for the upcoming draft.
When you really think about it... that was the perfect trade for the Bulls to make considering their approach to winning and team building. The fact that they didn't make that trade should be a fireable offense. It was a win-win situation that I cannot believe didn't happen.
