Pimp c's solo projects were mediocre at best.

They needed eachother and wouldnt have made it without eachother.

All these dumb threads about how one rapper wouldnt have made it without their partner are nothing but groupie status shyt trying to bash one rapper because they happen to like someone else better.

Garbage thread just like the outkast one.

Bun and pimp needed eachother.

Dre and big boi needed eachother.

Prodigy and havoc needed eachother.

Daz and kurupt needed eachother.

Pimpalation was solid as well. Both better than any of Bun B's solo albums.

But i agree with the rest of your comment. If it wasn't for that 1st sentence, you woulda got dap'd up and possibly had some rep sent your way

remember that Bun B interview where he was talking bout collaborations, & how he would just build off whatever his collaborator did, think bout how they approached it, & then approach the same way just with more vigor & skill.

that was inspirational words that stuck with me.

feel like he aint really use that approach since Pimp went in tho. maybe he was really talkin bout trying to show up Pimp? :manny: :patrice:

it's also been sticking out more lately when I bump old UGK shyt how many of Pimp's lines got sampled or flipped into other peoples entire songs, like multiple times per verse. hardly any of Bun's comparatively.

still, this some revisionist shyt, Bun earned them a lot of their respect that they got back then.

Well lemme put it like this. What would you rather listen to, pimp c solo, bun b solo, or a ugk album?

Both of those Pimp C joints got more play on my end than the last UGK joint they dropped (before pimp died) or any of Bun's albums.

Wasn't really feelin that last UGK album :yeshrug:

But my memory might be a lil foggy, haven't listened to any of those albums in years... gonna dig in the archive and put them thangs in rotation in the whip today and see how well they all aged.

its a reason why pimp had side projects with other nikkas with major backing...

v-12 boys( webbie, pimp and boosie)
broad playaz(too short n pimp)

he knew bun was a hoe, and pimp took that L paper wise
I think Bun is a bytch ass nikka for multiple reasons and he has fallen off, but I don't think he has a ghostwriter.

breh listen to everything they got...

he was aggressive n flow was top notch on the dont be a menace sdtrk...n rydin dirty...then he jus fell off every album after n was repetitive

similar to paul wall...paul was on his shyt when him n cham was together, they broke up..paul was repetitive

they say u are only as good as ya writer..

heres a story ric told about a convo between him n pimp c...n his og ron mack in inglewood when he left for cali..pimp wanted him to be the voice for the community n the youth...but ric was like fukk that shyt...(i would die to hear that convo)

also..if u ever heard bo$$'s born gangsta album.. 2 songs stood out n

both r songs ricky wrote..whenever ricky writes the artist inherit his flow and style...

.the others amg(quiks potna) wrote u could tell the difference

next time ric wrote again was ring the alarm for spice's album for bo$$

its 3 nikkas i have heard break face on the mic...n it was big mike, 3-2 and ricky...

funny the 3-2 n ricky slaughter happened on the odd squad song ..ricky n 3-2 has history them nikkas go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back they was on alot of posse cuts..

ric is at 0:51 face @3:09 3-2@6:18 3-2 showed naked spleen..after he reinvented himself

but before ricky ate em up on

pimp c named dropped ricky alot one that stood out was playas from the south

it took bun 10-15yrs to finally acknowledge him...when allhiphop had that top 5 dead or alive, u never heard bun mention royal flush

He would have never blown on his own. And if even now when he tries to be different people still dont check for him unless pimp is involved.

He would have fell to the waist side with all the other shoulda woulda coulda rappers in texas, it wasnt until he befriended ricky royal of royal flush ( the real royal flush, not that blowzee ass yankee)

where bun developed his word play and once bo$$ got sick and ricky put the mic down to take care of his girl..

bun lost it, truth is ricky royal aka cocobudda is bun's ghost writer

any real ugk fan can peep the difference in bun from the beginnin... up until him n ricky started colllabin (live wires connect and some of coco budda albums he dropped when he was djin at k104 in dallas)...how u have rhymin spurt for one album...n fall allllllllllllllll the way off the next 3

rick brought the best of bun, nikkas still hold on rydin dirty album and that murder verse..

bun hasnt had verse like that since..

rick took a step back..

bun got friendly turned his back on texas, went against everything the underground kings stood for, outside nikkas jackin trill etc, bun give em passes suckin they dikk

cosignin the very thing that gave the south let alone texas hell when coming up...give those nikkas passes for jackin slang n styles...but home team do it he tryin 2 throw law suits at em, and trademarkin trill n other shyt..but ah hahhhhhhhhhh bernard trill is 1 of the best sellin bird food
th

....then repetitive (king of the underground, king of the trill, stitch n tuck, belts n buckle every single verse)

now he knows he fallin off...and cant do shyt since his backbone is no longer on earth...so what does bun do..

jump on a student of ugk n the south...that so happens to sound a lil bit like pimp

bun-b-big-k-r-i-t.jpg

thats gettin old so what does he try 2 do now...be the southern krs one...
BunB_teach_photobyErikQuinn.jpg
...like he gives a shyt....butttttttt....he's tooooo friend-lee

:ohhh::ohhh::wow:

Didn't know about that, Bun did all of a sudden become a beast with the words though, then became repetitive as hell recycling lyrics, same delivery and etc.

put me up on some ricky royal breh

I never heard of this Ricky cat before, but I'm going to check it out because I have all of those albums you mentioned. I know you're saying Bun fell off after '96, but he was still wrecking shyt afterwards IMO. It's kind of hard to see since there was such a large gap between Ridin Dirty and Dirty Money, but Bun was appearing on other nikka shyt like My Homies and Realest nikkaz Down South compilation etc. in between. I see where you're from with this though and it wouldn't surprise me. What Born 2wice album is that track you posted off of? And that Paul Wall fall off was something serious...it was crazy how his rhymes was fukking terrible after him and Cham split.

pimp c solos were compilations, every single song had somebody featured...he could not drop a solo if he wanted..some shyt jive n rap-a-lot agreed to..along with jive keepin ugk as a group..they didnt give a shyt about bun...jive made sure they kept pimp, because he wasnt just a 1 trick pony he could produce

pimp could have made it without bun...shyt he started off singin sonnets..pimp could have turned hairy ass holes, good stuff, got me dizzy, i left it wet 4 u, to opera sonnets and sung all of em in tenor at carnegie hall...if he really wanted to pimp was a singer turned rapper because it was a easy hustle...

trill.jpg

pimp didnt need bun...he was already on his own shyt..n had his own click of nikkas..him n dmd could have did something..

nikkas dont know mitch was in ugk before bun even came around..

@shopthatwrecks Ok, I forgot you said he was Royal Flush from Rap-a-Lot. I got that album, but never listened to it. I'm going to check it out. Rap-A-Lot had alot of talent back in the day. Too Much Trouble, DMG, 5th Ward Boyz etc.
