Looking back, would Nexus have been more successful if they won at SummerSlam?

I think we can all agree that Nexus losing at SummerSlam in 2010 was a bad idea, and even worse was how the finish was booked. Everybody involved said that it didn't work.

But even if Nexus wins at SummerSlam, what's the guarantee that they're able to maintain their buzz for the rest of the year? WWE knows how to ruin a good thing if you let them. The only way the storyline makes sense is if Wade Barrett wins the WWE Championship, which would have ensured Nexus' dominance. But he lost all of his title matches. :mindblown:

They had an interesting storyline in making Cena join The Nexus and it ended in a month. :mindblown:

It's not like after SummerSlam, things changed for the better. Nexus just stopped being taken seriously by Vince. He could have easily had them go back to being dominant and wrecking shyt. Wade Barrett could have walked into WrestleMania XXVII as the WWE Champion and Cena could have faced him in one final showdown. But their booking just got worse after SummerSlam.

When you really think about it, would Nexus have been able to go on a run if they won that match?

No because the way the storyline played out, it still would've all been made for Cena to go over the group

followed by Randy going over CM Punk version of the group

Their wings would’ve been clipped in short order. Hell that had largely happened before Summerslam anyway when Cena bashed half the group dolo, the finish to the Summerslam was an inevitability

Depends on how they got the win. This was a moment that Cena should have turned heel at the end of the match and become leader of the Nexus, and if that would have happened there would have been some pretty good buzz until the inevitable fukking up and feeding everyone into the InCenarator.

Ehh, making Cena the leader of the Nexus doesn't really work either. Then, non of them are more than Cena's lackeys, and angles where somebody ends up being on the side of the people that were giving them the beats never really make sense.

They could of lost but they didn’t need to get buried like that. I think Cena eliminated like 4 of them on his own like wtf.

and after that the stable was booked like shyt too. That stable was really the Shield prototype in terms of debuting wrestlers in a way. Also there were too many members to balance them out storyline-wise. Its easy when some members are established, but no one knew who these people were. Makes sense since they basically split them into two factions anyways.
