If so what does this say about Curry's importance that he was the main player for the Cavs defensive gameplan despite having KD.
He came two assists and a rebound short of averaging a triple double his DAMN self.

I'd say their strategy failed on multiple levels.

Also, this should effectively shut up all those Curry detractors from LAST postseason. When they said he was hurt people said it was an excuse....turns out he probably was hurt and not 100%, cause we saw his redemption tour this time around. How you average more rebounds than Cleveland's bigs? :mjlol:

He should have gone hack-a-Iggy with 5 minutes to go. GSW takes him out and Kyrie would be able to score again. Also slows the game down and allows CLE to get closer with the scoring.

I was begging GS to put Iggy on Kyrie because Klay was not affecting him at all. Iggy clearly bothered Irving more.
hacking him would have gave them a punchers chance but Iggy was balling tonight, basically cancelled out JR Smith's game.

I just don't think trapping Curry was the best move. It allowed KD to kill them one on one. He has a mismatch with whomever he went up against.
Hard to believe the Cavs feared Curry that much to allow KD free rein :francis:

Draymond said in his press conference Warriors didn't seem unbeatable until Steph starting looking for his own shots again earlier in the season and not compromise his offense.

Dude is integral to the offense and what makes them such a mismatch vs every other team.

It's not just the shooting either. You see how many easy layups he got because he broke down multiple defenders? If you got to double KD, you'd have Steph 1v1 vs anybody and it's game over. Either going to be an easy basket or assist.

You can't double KD and you can't double Steph, but you can't cover either of them 1v1 either.

That's what so special about this team, you choose the way you want them to beat you, and they'll beat you. It really is nearly impossible to take away what they do best by sending 2 defenders on any one player because they all can pass, nor trying to cover them one on one because they all can get free. At minimum you'd need at least 4 great defenders on the floor at once who are terrific at making rotations. Depending on their lineup, you'd sometimes need 5 great defenders on the floor at once. But then how many great defenders are out there that'd be able to score on GS's great defense as well?

Was trapping Curry and allowing a 7'0 foot KD to be open or one on one the best defensive strategy to use against Golden State?

He's right about Curry whether or not I agree with his game plan. It's Curry's unique offensive abilities that make that offense work and run the way it does. Durant is the better player, but the offense flows around and starts with Steph.
Definitely, the smartest thing to do. Leaving Durant to go 1v1 is the lesser of two evils. You trap Durant and there's the potential of Curry being open and you're fighting to stay afloat trying to match his 3-pt production. It's half the reason why they've been able to limit his scoring production in the last three Finals' because they force the ball outta his hands and make players like Draymond, Iggy etc etc take shots.
