Sad thing is that they have drafted for two of those three spots but they are either busts or injury prone. Our last two or three drafts have been the worst I can ever remember for the Steelers.

damn, well, your GM needs to be fired breh :manny:

I'm glad we got Lacy because we haven't had a rugged back like him in ages. Ahman Green was a speedster who was physical but we haven't had a big back who plowed over people.

Plus, Ted Thompson has had issues with getting OLs himself but it seems to have gotten a couple... I haven't seen GB o line play like this since Ahman Green.

It can turn around quickly with a couple of kids in the draft or UDFA... it may even be next year but your GM needs to be let go...

explain how they need to adapt. What are the Steelers doing that showed they have not adapted to "the modern NFL"?

  • They don't use free agency at all & expect to build entirely thru the draft. You can't do that & expect to be successful, you're not going to hit on every draft pick.
  • Rooneys publicly speak out & force the team to run more, while the rest of the league is passing. And while the rest of the league is passing, they haven't addressed their secondary in the first 2 rds of the draft since 2005.
  • They have no control over their salary cap issues. Pushing large cap hits on veteran players down the line doesn't solve anything. It just makes the team older & causes long term cap problems. They can't financially prepare for the future, so the roster remains stagnant.

I been saying this shyt for years and just last year other Steelers fans have started jumping on that bandwagon but Colbert is from Pittsburgh and is "the first" GM Pittsburgh has ever had (in theory). Donahue was the man but Cowher had him forced out in the late '90's then proceeded to win with the teams that he put together

1) The best teams in the NFL build soley through the draft. 49ers, Seahawks, Patriots, and Packers among others built their teams through the draft.
2) Pass more behind that offensive line and with those WRs? Idk breh, and you can still win in the league running the ball and playing defense. Look at the 49ers. I do agree they need to address that secondary though, and it may be time to throw Troy P into the bushes.
3) I agree with this. I am not sure that is "old NFL" or "modern NFL" but I agree teams cannot do that.

That 08' and 09' draft class turned out to be a bust. There is no one left from 08' and only 2 from 09'. Both of which aren't game changers. It would have been nice to keep Keenan Lewis

They have NEVER relied on free agency

I do think that their drafting has been shytty so I agree with the 2nd statment

Damn shame. I would have loved Tomlin as the Miami Dolphins coach.

Don't get me wrong I like Philbin. I like because he's smart and only tells you what HE feels you NEED to know. Keeps everything internal to the team. Some fans hate that about him (cats like @heisenburrr ) but fukk those fans. He's in charge he's gonna run things as he pleases. There are questionable decisions here and there but all coaches make mistakes. He was handed a crappy roster by our sorry ass GM and made them somewhat respectable (only 11-13 so far but far better than i expected)

Tomlin would work wonders as our HC with the defensive personal we have and I'm sure he'd bring some of his staff from Pittsburg to fix this bullshyt Oline.

:pacspit: keep my name out ya mouth

Philbin looks pretty fukking smart right now. Players questioning why he's not challenging the piss poor decisions his excuse for an offensive coordinator makes every week. Whole locker room is a fukking mess. This team has blatant lack of leadership. But yeah let's back up this library book keeper looking mothafukka cause he LOOKS so smart.

Lack of transparency is acceptable for a fan if you're a superbowl winning, championship contender every season. When you been bottom of the barrell for the last decade you better be accountable to your fans. Philbin is a puppet and he doesn't run the show like that, there's numerous reports of him being censured and getting told what to do by that Dawn Aponte bytch who's trying to keep the Parcells regime alive & well in MIA.

Gimme a Rex Ryan all day over a "no nonsense, smart, doesn't want to hurt players feelings by calling them out publicly" ass coach

I bet Rex didnt loom that sexy to you last year :mjpls:

Either way i still take Philbin over that cry baby mofo we called Jimmy Johnson and that bum Sparano.

Either way even if we were to can Philbin and get Tomlin i still wouldnt be satisfied as long as Jeff Ireland is still around.

They should have held onto Arians for as long as the could. Most teams have adjusted....you dont get brownie points for playing "Steeler football"

Coach Tomlin's Comments vs. Patriots

Coach Mike Tomlin talks about the Steelers loss to New England.

Opening: A disappointing performance, probably as disappointed as I have been especially under the circumstances in terms of how we were able to fight back there at the beginning of the second half. It was a 24-24 game and they handled us and handled us well. We have to accept that and move forward and we will. We give them the credit. They were the better team tonight and the scoreboard and stats reflected that. From an injury standpoint Vince Williamssustained a concussion as did Ike Taylor. Those guys will be evaluated. Marcus Gilbert had an ankle injury.

Are you able to explain how they had so many open wide receivers throughout the game?
No, we didn’t perform well.

You talk about the effort you want to see from this team. Did you see that down the stretch?
Not good enough. Not good enough. It just wasn’t. We are going to comb through this with a fine tooth comb, as we should. Those people that were lacking effort won’t be playing. It’s just that simple.

When you say this is as disappointed as you have been, are you talking about this season?
This season.

Why have Ben Roethlisberger out there at the end?
Because we have to get better and those are snap opportunities to get better. We aren’t turning it down. We aren’t running away from anything. We had the opportunity to work and get better so we did that. The guys that were healthy were going to stay on the grass and finish the game.

You fight back to tie it, and then they go up. Were you surprised?
We didn’t stop them. That’s the bottom line. We couldn’t stop them. We didn’t stop the run, we didn’t stop the pass.

Is the first inclination to stick with it, or do you re-evaluate the process at this point?
You re-evaluate everything, you have to after a performance like that and we will. That doesn’t necessarily mean we will change, or we will change for the sake of changing, but we will look at every aspect of what we are doing and who we are doing it with because we can’t have performances like that.

That was the most points the Steelers ever gave up. Do you chalk that up as a bad loss or does that mean something in the locker room?
It was a 55-point game. I don’t care whether it was the most points we gave up or not, it isn’t any more sickening or less sickening based on those results.

Are you perplexed at all that this is happening or more disappointed?
I am angry. I’m disappointed. We don’t have time for perplexed. We are capable of better than that. We’ve got to be better than that, we weren’t. So we’re going to fix it.

Is that anger reflected in the team?
I am not going to speak for them. I will let those guys speak for themselves.

At 24-24 what was your feeling. Did you feel like you could win at that point?
Absolutely I did. The big punt return was a significant play, but we had overcome some significant plays to that point in the game, but we didn’t.

How does Rob Gronkowski’s play change the Patriots and what happened tonight?
I am not going to speak for those guys. They are capable of speaking for themselves. Their performance tonight speaks for itself.

You had two pass interference penalties on one drive without having many all season. Is that the kind of thing you look at and so those kind of things can’t happen?
It is just indicative of how we performed tonight.

The number of big plays all year is something that you don’t typically do. What is happening there?
I am not ready to characterize the season, but tonight we were out of place. They executed well. That combination was lethal.

Time to bring Tomlin back to Minnesota brehs

:shaq:

If we could be so lucky I would sign him TODAY breh

The black man in me says its a good chance that he will be fired after these past two seasons we know how its goes with black coaches in the nfl:mjpls: but I look at the Steelers and how they roll and I cant see them letting Tomlin go as much asI would LOVE having him as coach the Rooneys are class and will do right by him

Are there seriously some of you who think this man is going to fired...seriously?

Just part of the Black Tax breh it is what it is :yeshrug:
