Big Ben has been sacked damn near 30 times already this season, he gets basically no line whatsoever and still keeps his team in the game. Take those QB's put them in the predicament that Ben is in and do you see any of them having more success than he has? Ben is a monster and his team is what makes him look bad. No he's not as durable as he was, no he can't move like he did before but dude is still a top tier QB and while I would take the top four on your list I wouldn't take the rest. No homerism here just my honest opinion.

The line sucks/is injured, No real game breaker at WR(Brown is damn good but would be better served as a #2), Miller is the #1 TE and is even slower now after his knee injury, They rarely if ever throw to the #2 TE who usually stays in to block anyway even though he sucks as a blocker, the running back situation besides Bell is :scusthov: a front office that mandates they run the ball better/more, an offensive coordinator who was hired to run this offense after Tomlin says Arians will remain:snoop: Ben isn't perfect but he's the least of this teams problems

This is what I'm trying to say. Look at what he did today running for his life, if he had a line even with that garbage ass D he could keep this team in games, he can shoot it out with the best of them. Contrary to what people would like to believe this guy has NEVER had a line. Only trustworthy offensive lineman he's ever had in his career was Faneca who bounced after the first SB win, since then he has had a couple lineman who have respect but can't stay healthy or have underachieved. This dude has been running for his life since he came into the league.

Big Ben gets sacked because he pump fakes and holds onto the ball too long. I'm sure Ben's offensive line isn't good enough but he doesn't help things with his tendency to get outside the pocket and wait for a big play opportunity. Scrambling QBs like Ben need better offensive lines. In exchange they make plays.

Going to be interesting because knowing Pittsburgh history they dont can coaches so quickly.Cowher had bad seasons and they reward him with extension.Steelers wont make playoffs this year.Im sure Rooney's will make Tomlin get rid of Haley and a couple :old: players on defense. I would be surprised if Tomlin is canned.

He has to pump fake because if he doesn't he wouldn't ever get a pass off because the defensive player is past the blocker as soon as the ball is hiked. It looks like he holds on to the ball too long when in actuality he only holds on to it too long 20% of the time. He then has to that because if doesn't the team will NEVER be in contention to make a comeback, that game today could have easily been a lot worse then what it was if not for him.

Faneca was old, and what are the other two doing? They USED to get rid of players at the right time and that is why they were so successful for so long, now they restructure contracts and hold on to older players WAAAAY too long and that is why they are where they are.

Woodson
Greene
Lloyd
Brown

are names that come off the top that they got rid of before it was truly their time to go but it was "what is best for business", now they no longer live by that.

Cowher had 3 straight subpar seasons in the late 90's then went 13-3 in 2001. I'd imagine Tomlin will get next year to see if he can right the ship. And the Arians firing/Haley retirement has always been kind of iffy. Tomlin says it was his call but I honestly believe it was an Art II decision

Here's the timeline of what happened, and just like the old segment on "Monday Night Football" ... You Make the Call:
  • On Jan. 9, a day after the Steelers' playoff loss at Denver, Tomlin said he anticipated both of his coordinators would return, although he added, "we all understand what the end of the season is about and movement is a part of it in today's NFL for both players and coaches."
  • On Jan. 17, Rooney indicated that some members of the coaching staff were considering retirement.
  • On Jan. 20, Tomlin announced in a statement that "Bruce Arians has informed me that he will retire from coaching."
  • On Jan. 23, Arians told the York Daily Record that Rooney informed him that his contract wasn't being renewed.
  • On Jan. 28, eight days after his "retirement announcement" by the Steelers, Arians joined the Indianapolis Colts as their offensive coordinator.

Holmes was traded for a 5th round pick because of a failed drug test. I still think they could have gotten more for him:yeshrug:

faneca was old holmes had off the field issues which the rooneys don't fukk around about and wallace wanted to be overpaid when the Steelers already are over the cap, them seem to let go of players at the right time, they should have kept collon and starks thought.

Big Ben is probably my favorite QB in the league because of his unpredictable improvisation, loopy throwing angles and sandlot pocket presence. This play encapsulates all these things. From the top of his drop to the moment he releases the ball, Ben spends about 10 seconds pump faking and dancing in the pocket. After faking everyone out, including the camera, Ben finally finds a receiver for a TD.

Think about the protection though: what offensive line can maintain protect a QB for 10 seconds? A better question might be what defensive coverage can maintain its integrity for 10 seconds? The enigma that is Ben Roethslisberger.

this is almost entirely NOT why the Steelers are struggling :heh:

they have an old team.

And that goes right along with the point I was making.....

They've failed to adapt. They don't use free agency at all, they expect everything to come thru the draft. The salary cap issues have been going on 5+ years, that's unacceptable. They keep extending bad contracts & pushing large cap hits down the road, they have the franchise stuck in a terrible financial situation. One would assume that falls on Kevin Colbert, but I think we all know every move goes thru Art Rooney II

But thats the reason I keep ragging on Big Ben.

Listen, Big Ben is not a bad QB. His play is actually fun to watch (More often than not:stopitslime:).

But when Ben's contract is up for questioning, he could be holding the team hostage for more 1/3 of our cap...

Do any of you believe his play is worth this amount of investment?:yeshrug:

The Raven's going to go through the same pain
