I went to the Crosstown Classic at The Cell, it was a group outing with a mix of Cubs and Sox fans. It was a great experience and nothing crazy happened.

it probably was cool. but I have ZERO interest in going to wrigley field. US Cellular shyts on it in EVERY aspect. and technically wrigley is in a more hip location, US cellular is closer to my house via public transportation, so its better for me.

both wrigley and the cell are accessed via the same train, but going to the cell is a 10-15 train ride whereas going to wrigley is a 30-40 min ride.

in both instances, that train is only a 2 block walk from my house, so that's a non-issue

LaRoche actually had his kid with him from 6-7 hrs before first pitch every single day. He was everywhere. Kid doesn't go to school besides an online program and hasn't ever attended regular school. He overstepped and probably has been for years but others were probably afriad of saying something to him since he was actually good. Now, Sox dgaf since he has declined and let him know. And there is no way all the players were ok with the kid being there.

Top performers get perks. It's why Williams was cool with Ozzie bringing his sons around, especially in 2005. It's the reason we saw Dusty Baker's 3-year-old almost get run over in the 2002 WS. Kenny drafted two of his own sons, one of whom is now a scout for the White Sox. Them's the perks.

Bottom line,Laroche didn't hit enough to justify his contract. Whether or not a player(s) went around Ventura's back and complained to KW, he saw the opportunity to get out of a bad signing. Kudos to him for that. He doesn't travel with the team, but obviously knows the atmosphere as a former big leaguer himself.

That said, the hirings of Hahn and Ventura look like disasters as time goes on. The 2005 flag will always fly, but KW brought in a team that will likely finish 4/5 for the fourth consecutive season. His seat may be hot.

Conspiracy theory: The kid is not the biggest issue (he's 14 and from a baseball family; probably gets along with everyone) but people are more tired of LaRoche's Christian proselytizing -- he did some Faith Night stuff with the Duck Dynasty crew. Maybe that was more pressing?

We're not big on school????

:dahell:

When you have 50-60 mil in the bank, education is optional. :manny:

They tell us regular folk to go to school, college, make good grades to get a good job to make money.

But if you already got insane amount of money, then you can skip a bunch of that. Sure you need to know how to read, and do common math....but stuff like: sin2(t) + cos2(t) = 1 tan2(t) + 1 = sec2(t) 1 + cot2(t) = csc2(t), advanced English literature, lotta other stuff can kiss my (rich) ass. :heh:

chris sale yelling at the president of a team :dahell: is this cac

Chris sale Is the star of the team. I'm sure he can bring his kid in and cuss out management all he wants with no repercussions. One thing about sports is the same rules don't apply to all players. The better u are, the more u get away with.

I don't know about Rick Hahn. But To be honest, Kenny Williams is unfireable in this town. He was the GM that got Jerry his coveted World Series ring. Only thing that's happened between then and now is he got promoted from GM to president :salute:

Rollins is likely to get that spot from what I've heard. Whether or not he'll produce anything is up for discussion.

White Sox opened camp with no black dudes? Rollins and A Jackson will make the roster but have less than a month in.

:francis:

After seeing they built a kid a locker and LaRoche demanded that be part of the deal before he signed makes his position a bit more justifiable. I still think he is an idiot for thinking his kid is better off around grown men getting paid millions than kids his own age. They got made fun of in school so LaRoche trying to save his kid from the same torment :mjlol:

"Don't worry son. They wont make fun of you as long as I'm around. Matter fact, lets not let you be around any kids who might be mean to you :mjcry:"

:camby: I bet you couldn't name the cubs closer and starting pitching staff without google. You aint no real cubs fan foh

I'm not a baseball fan for the past 10 years or so nor have I claimed to be so beat it.

That being said, reinsdorf allowed management to push out Mike, pip, and Phil in the same offseason. No way he's not siding with Kenny Williams thru this.
