Mobb Deep's Infamy Turns 15 Today

Never thought it was as bad as people have said it was. It's no Hell on Earth or Murda Muzik but it isn't wack either. Album had some bangers on there. Plus it led to one of my favorite mixtapes/compilations of that time the following year w/ Free Agents. Now that had some joints on it.

Bullshyt subliminals while Jay still had people thinking P was actually in a tutu?

Nas got it way worse yet he rattled Jay Z properly. Jay sonning them twice by muscling Vida from The Burn video

That just made Jay look like he had more of the edge. We always knew P for spitting, him falling off out of nowhere made it look like Jay got into his soul.

Album aged well. Whether you fukked with P's "thugged out spoken word" style change in the long run or not, it was jarring to hear him switch to that flow. After 15 years of him largely using that style, it's way easier on the ears now.

At the time I really didn't fukk with the album at all. As years have passed, I think it's a little but underrated. There are some bangers on there, and a couple classic songs for sure. Get Away is still one of my favorite Mobb joints ever.

It sure as shyt isn't worse than Blood Money.

The album was not a complete dud
But none of the songs would make it on the 3 previous albums

I was so disappointed given their previous efforts
I guess I hold that against them

I vaguely remember this, Stillmatic, and Iron Flag all dropping on the same day in 01. I had the money to cop all 3. oddly and somewhat sadly....an artist that I didnt really like (Nas) dropped a great album that day....while 2 groups I loved dropped hot garbage (Mobb and Wu). fukk this album and iron flag both.
