Newly Announced PlayStation Exclusive Odin’s Sphere: Leifdrasir Gets Trailer and Gameplay Video

After announcing Odin’s Sphere: Leifdrasir for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, Atlus and Vanillaware showcased a trailer and a gameplay video of the game.

You can check them out below ( gameplay video courtesy of YouTube user 14Dimension Enterprise), showing as the game retained its original style, but looks lovely in the revised graphics.

Odin’s Sphere: Leifdrasir will hit the Japanese shelves on January 14th, 2016, and it will be a remake of the original Odin’s Sphere, with revised gameplay and new features, not just a remaster.

Odin Sphere Leifdrasir Will Include The HD Version Of The Original PlayStation 2 Release

Fans of the Vanillaware developed 2D games have definitely been made happy yesterday with the announcement of the HD remaster of Odin Sphere, which will be called Odin Sphere Leifdrasir, launching next year on PlayStation consoles. The new version of the game will come not only with enhanced graphics but also with several new gameplay features that will make the experience more enjoyable.

If you’re among those who would like to play the game again on modern hardware with improved graphics but would prefer to do it without the new gameplay additions, you will be happy to know that Odin Sphere Leifdrasir will also include the HD version of the original PlayStation 2 release, which will not include any of the additions of the new HD release, as revealed on the latest issue of Famitsu. This is definitely great news, as the game’s “Classic Mode” will allow players to enjoy the original release without the framerate drops and slowdowns which plagued the PlayStation 2 version.

Odin Sphere has been originally released on PlayStation 2 years ago, before receiving a PlayStation 2 Classic release on PSN. The game is set in a beautiful fantasy world where players will be able to control five different characters, each one with his or her own story which will bring the characters together at the end of the game.

Odin Sphere Leifdrasir will come not only with graphical enhacements but also several new gameplay features that will deepen the overall experience and make it more enjoyable. It will really be interesting to see what the team will come up with to fix one of the biggest issues of the original, the excessive repetition.

Odin Sphere Leifdrasir will be released next year on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in Japan. A Western release has yet to be confirmed but chances are high, considering the original PlayStation 2 release has been launched in all regions.
