Phil Spencer upset: Thinks reviewers rate Xbox games lower to get traffic

On the subject of ReCore, Spencer went on to say that he wished the game had been received better; some reviews were a "little harsh," he said. He also suggested that some reviewers scored it lower than the average specifically to increase site traffic. But at the same time, he said the review scores are not necessarily a reflection of the game's importance to Microsoft. Also, the game is "selling well" and gamers are receiving it positively. "The gamers' response to the game has been positive, which is the most important thing," he said.

I mean somebody gave Forza Horizon 3 a four. I think there's certain reviews that are written more to get clicked on than they are to actually accurately reflect the quality of the game, and that kind of bums me out.

I would have to look at an overall chart breakdown on all of this, but xbox one games SHOULD rank a little lower than PS4 versions overall because most of the time the PS4 games run a little better and at a little higher resolution.

I hate reviews overall, but if that is indeed the case there is nothing wrong with that.

If we are talking exclusives, then I am not really sure what there is to bytch about. The reality is that the xbox brand has never had a lot of exclusives when stacking them up to Sony offerings. If they rate overall lower than PS4 games I don't see the big problem here either

I did, it's just not a good look for a figurehead to really take the bait on review conspiracy theories like that.

He has a point about FH3, but whatever. It is what it is. I personally wouldn't have even brought that game up...it is justifying the trolling by the reviewer. Can we get a link to the FH3 review he highlighted?
