are you one of those guys who believes birth certificates are traded as well?

Hey Esau. Stop trying to be sarcastic. These are just a couple of companies that are publicly traded. Must of the stock is owned by the those in government. The more people that are put in prison. The more money they make. These companies have deals with states throughout the country that they must have a there facilities filled to a certain capacity with prisoners. If they are not, the states are required to pay the difference to the company to meet contractual obligations.

This is an interesting topic. Because when we say end the War on Drugs, what exactly do we mean? Keep in mind, before the War on Drugs, drugs were STILL ILLEGAL, and carried some jail time. The War on Drugs was just a movement to increase jail sentences, change laws to make it easier to prosecute and convict drug defendants, and funnel TONS of money into fighting the drug trade.

Now first and foremost, marijuana needs to be decriminalized. It should be legal and not grouped in with the other hard drugs.

But the others...cocaine, heroin, meth, etc...what do we do? I've seen some posts say ending the drug war would help the black community. Uhhhh...I'm not so sure about that. Remember the crack epidemic in the 80's? Obviously the sentences are too high. Double digit years for selling drugs is crazy. So do we max it out at 5 years even if its at a trafficking level? Or do we eliminate the possibility of prison altogether? Heres the thing...do you want crack/heroin/meth being sold in YOUR neighborhood? You know the drama that brings. The only way to eliminate the violence is to legalize it, and that brings us back to the question of legalizing crack, heroin, etc. That just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Opinons?
Okay if you legalize marijuana why not legalize the "hard" drugs too cause after all the people using them are making a personal choice...9.9/10 people are not forced to do drugs they choose to...legalizing marijuana will open the flood gates...on a side note though even doe im against legalizing drugs I have to call out the American public for their cowardness...if you wanna smoke, why do you need the government to ok it? There's millions of smokers in this country...go out there and light up...what's the worst that can happen? Will they arrest millions of people all at once? Grow some balls and take action...it's a old cliché that says be the change that you want to see in the world...y'all relying on congress which is the most useless body in the country to come up with a solution...

no, youre not right. because the consequences for smoking and selling weed have been determined by people with agendas that don't reflect the people they represent

65% of america wants legalization
Okay what about the 35% who doesn't...and are you seriously telling me out of the 320 million people in America over 180 million of them wants to legalize marijuana? Or you just quoting opinion polls...let's be real only a few people want it and they're forcing their views on the rest just like gay marriage...

Obama said the pretty much the same shyt when he was a senator (except that he can't explicitly say black/brown kids because he'll be accused of giving preference to black people) and it didn't really mean all that much.

My point is that talk is cheap and the only reason Rand Paul is getting "props" for saying this is that the rest of his party usually goes out of its way to antagonize minorities. When he gives specifics on what he'd actually do to change the status quo as president, I'll be all ears, but until then I have to consider this just hot air.

How you guys are not :salute:this man is beyond me.

Ending the "war on drugs" Would do more for the black community than the dems have done in a generation
:wow: Just speaking on it should make him the front runner for black votes.

Nothing even has to be passed, just holding a serious conversation about it on the national level does more for blacks than what Dems are pushing.

... and if steps are taken :blessed:

:why: I can't

we lost brehs:ohlawd:

Like I said, hella flawed logic.

You hire someone for a job, but you can't expect them to do it unless you do it.
Parent tells kid to take out trash, can't expect kid to do it though, parents gotta take it out.
Cop says get outta the car, can't expect the citizen to do it, better shoot 'em.
