Until H.E.R came through and crushed the buildings
H.E.R. is tough.
She is the baddest to come onto the scene in sometime since maybe Ledisi. 
Outside of that who folks today got Ella Mai (laughable) 
..... But H.E.R. that girl right there, she is the TRUTH. 
So she has no pop hits but she good in the hood
Like maxwell. Dude has one song in the top 20 on billboard hot 100.... but the hood knows what’s good with maxwell music

She get a 7 just off vocals alone.
She's one of those singers that's cool to watch live, but you just not tryna listen to their music.

she has a lot of emotive wit and storytelling in her delivery.. the way she sings, how she colors her notes and plays with texture is really impressive. A genuine soul singer.. lots of raw talent. her runs are dope and when she drops all that growling you can hear the beauty of the high soprano ring when she belts. She’s always one to play with song structure and remodifies it to make it her own which is why she does so well at tributes. I still say the annointing too strong for her not to give us a gospel album

Solid 8! I think she’s a few classics away from anything higher
