Emeka Okafor Receives Interest From Cavaliers, Heat
Aug 24, 2014 11:31 PM EDT

Emeka Okafor has received interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat among roughly half of the NBA's teams, according to sources.

Okafor, however, is unlikely to sign with a team until midseason as he continues to heal from a herniated disk.

"He'll be in high demand when he's back," one source said.

Okafor suffered his injury during preseason last year and was subsequently dealt from the Washington Wizards to the Phoenix Suns.

Looks like he won't be joining us for a while. I wish we could just sign him now and let him rehab on the payroll. Wouldn't be the first time we've done that or the second...:lupe:

Man if he could start and we get a fraction of this, we would be alright.
I always liked homie. The way he runs the floor as a big + moves without the ball kinda remind you of Zo and David Robinson respectively

We need to take at least 20 shots every game.
uh... as a team we better take more than 20 shots a game:why:

Mourning said that if he played today, he’d probably be transformed into a stretch-4 or perimeter shooting power forward. The lack of centers is not surprising to Mourning, now an executive with the Miami Heat. “I wouldn’t say it’s leaving because if another great center comes along, he’ll be the first pick in the draft,” he said. “[Joel] Embiid would have been the first pick in the draft if not for his health. “Basketball is played from the inside out. San Antonio beat us [Miami in the NBA Finals] because they dominated us in the paint. So if you can get somebody in the draft that’s dominating in the paint, they’re going to go first.”

Interesting and he's probably right. Being a back to the basket, traditional center is a lost art.

@Intruder v3.0

Did you have any thoughts on the modern era Zo being a stretch four?

What other rim protectors we got on our team who can also lock up the opposing teams best post player :sas2:
So we have none of that on our roster. So out of all the options out there to bring in, Joel Anthony is the one that stood out to you? :stopitslime:
Thank God Micky is NOT bringing you clones in as potential replacement for Riley in the FO :blessed:

Let's hear your suggestions wise ass. It was up to you our starting 5 would probably be Andre Miller/D Wade/Some modern day Mashburn clone/Paul Milsap/and UD, averaging 70 pts a game and getting ran off the floor every night

Andre Miller?:russ:

Id sign Jermaine O'Neal before i bring Joel back. Hell i'd even go after Okafor or give Oden another shot.
While i appreciate Joel's effort (he plays hard every possession) i'll pass on his non rebounding ass.
And dont you dare talk sh!t about Mash .
Milsap is a very good player. Just wont fit on this squad right now. Miller was always a good player but his lack of D would only make him a backup here

Jermaine O'Neal doggy, really :mjlol:

Joel is more versatile than any of those guys defensively, lets be reality nobody knows what kind of condition Okafor is in. If healthy he's the best option, Joel aint even a FA right I'm just saying for what he brings on the defensive end I would love to have him back because that is how we are going to have to beat teams this year
