He was extremely talented. I was excited to see his career progress, especially as he got his severe bipolar disorder under control and made amends with those he'd hurt.

He was really talented at crafting melodies, which might be the most important aspect of creating music. He wasn’t the most prolific writer, but his versatility allowed him to cross genres. His last album had rock music, rap, and carribean influenced dance music - all of which he could make at a pretty high level.

He made good, sometimes even great music, across a number of different genres breh.
How someone goes from making "Riot", and rapping well beyond the abilities of the vast majority of 19 year olds getting heavy burn right now, to making songs that could've been straight out of an early Nirvana album...shyt blows my mind.
I was excited to see him progress. Especially as he started to get his mental health under control.

I remember shytting on him as an artist a few months back but still people felt his music and unfortunately a lot young Black men's lives are snuffed out before they can really enjoy the fruits of their labor. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
