OP said that Roy would be "uncomfortable" vs. 97g
:mjlol:

I said Roy was uncomfortable with pressure. Triple G is one of the great pressure fighters ever. So not so much GGG the boxer...but GGG"s fighting style.

Not saying Roy would even lose. But it's a style that he least wanted to fight...Roy didn't want to brawl...he didn't like constantly fighting off the ropes. He wanted the fight square in the ring where he could use his superior handspeed and footwork.

He loved potshotting dudes to death

Kind of sad, the Roy disrespect.

Nah there's no Roy disrespect. But Styles makes fights. That's boxing101. We"ve seen fights where Roy didn't look as good when his opponent tried roughing him up.

A knockdown drag em out brawl wouldn't be an ideal fight for Roy

That being said id personally pick Roy. But it's not inconceivable that he could have a hard time.

When RJJ moved up to LHW he was fighting off the ropes more often and not just fighting in the middle of ring. Once he dropped back down from HW to LHW his body got ruined. I'll give GGG a shot vs weight drop RJJ. But no shot at all vs pre-HW Roy.

Sure. And Roy could fight off the ropes pretty well. There were stories of him sparing with gerard mclennan who was a beast in his time and should have been the next great champ.

McLennan was a great pressure fighter and with insane reach and he was pressuring/cornering Roy to the ropes and they way Roy fought back was by using the ropes as leverage/bouncing off and bombing on McLennan. Dude could really fight

But inside fighting wasn't his preference. Why would it be? He was so dominant in the middle and had a physical advantage everytime. If you managed to move him from the circle that was a small victory in itself. And triple G is great at which could at least bode for an interesting fight

But it doesn't mean Roy would've been uncomfortable at all. What fighters pressured Roy and made him uncomfortable at 160? Back up your claim.

did you even watch saturday's fight?.....one of the greatest pressure fighter's ever???.....dude's not even maidana level when it comes to pressure.

canelo had this man shook to death to come inside because of his speed and counter punching. can you imagine how roy would have him?.....i'm being dead ass serious. roy would knock this dude out in less than 3 rounds. canelo unleashed 10 punch combo's on this dude with no answer. roy would do some truly asinine shyt on this man.

Or Shawn Porter either:sas2:

They have reckless pressure though, GGG has intelligent pressure it seems. If they all had the same power, Id fight GGG first bc if you catch him enough times, the hesitant Euro shows up in his brain, while Maidana will still fight like you were the key to his next meal & Porter keeps running after you like a rabid dog.

Prime Roy Jones probably, if not via KO, loses 1 round vs GGG...thats it.

At 160? He was pretty much invincible. But who did he really fight at 160? But as he stepped up his weight and competition. Fights like these exposed a blueprint

See the difference between Roy in middle of the ring vs on the ropes. Roy used a high guard and usually waited for a guy to punch himself out then he would pounce...u saw very little inside fighting vs Roy and he
he used instead was his leaping left hook and superb timing.

A guy like GGG would come at Roy all night and force him to fight off the ropes. Does Triple G get popped and countered? Sure. But he has the chin to not get blasted away...and Roy already had a nasty tendency off backing himself up to the ropes and once there he would cover up, try to catch u coming in or just wait for u get tired. Either way it's a position where he is Inactive and not in a position where he can utilize his strengths.

G would definitely score points. Not saying he would win. I just don't think Roy blasts him away like a lot of posters are saying.
