Disney commissioned this STUDIO to make animations way before lion king.
even possibly before Simba was on syndication on NBC in the late sixties.
Disney knew exactly who this company was.
as again they commissioned this company was work before we were all born.
not to mention in the grand scheme of things animated or anime.
you should look independently into more indepthly.

He says he could not find any evidence for how long it was in development. He says what may have given people that impression was the date on the trailer but that may have been a typo.

To be fair, Disney in the early 90s had a massive resurgence with its "Disney Afternoon" Cartoon lineup as well as eating off "Beauty and the Beast" in 91 and "Aladdin" in 92 being massive critical hits. 1993 was somewhat murky, I agree , especially when Non Disney cartoons on TV were on some legendary shyt and caught up to them

"Lion King" just made Disney immortal from that point on.
