  [*]The funny thing is that if your combined salary is more than 149k there is a tax PENALTY. So if both of you make around 74k each (which isnt an unattainable goal) not only does the benefit disappear, you get penalized.

There's no reason to get married, not for love anyway. Most people don't really seem to get the idea of a marriage.

The ultimate purpose of a marriage, sans religion and romance, is to establish an estate, family unit, and partnership between two romantic partners.

That is, you are trusting your SO to enter into a sort of business agreement with yourself. You are trusting them with legal matters, financial matters, management matters, and all sorts of other powers. And In trusting them with that, as a man you leave yourself vulnerable to plenty of potential problems.

Marriage is the only thing in the world where people tell you to stop using common sense. Looking at it objectively, it clear as day that the potential bad far outweighs the potential good, but people keep pushing it on people and try to make someone look insane when they don't believe in it.

Not putting yourself in debt the rest of your life and not losing 85% of your assets > "tax breaks".

as a lesbian, I can potentially get screwed in a divorce if I make more money than my partner but I still would want to have someone to trust with legal matters, financial matters, and management matters rather than not
why do it alone when you can do it with a partner that you really like/love

This is why standard contracts exist. Those are all things you can delegate to your SO. At the end of the day, "marriage" is just a contract. Like every other contract, there are terms, but it's a contract where the breadwinner gets screwed. No one in their right mind would agree to the terms of marriage, if "love" wasn't involved. No one.

They don't wanna be wives they wanna be brides. They all think about that "big day" where she can be a princess, but nothing that comes after it.

Just like they "Want a baby so bad " but then get frustrated with everything that comes after that. Like its a problem taking care of a child you said you wanted, or you should be entitled to some sort of praise because you did your job as a mother.

I feel that. A lot of people do. Until divorce comes, and you lose your house, your kids, and half of your savings due to lawyer fees, end up paying alimony and child support, while struggling to maintain and keep a 1 bedroom apartment because all of your money is gone, and all of the money coming in doesn't go in your pocket.


I'm not even against marriage, I'm just not doing it. But I wouldnt walk into a prison with booty shorts on, a crop top And KY jelly in my hand either so
