Aiight, now this thread is getting ridiculous :snoop: Old heads in here calling all posters who don't fukk with Brand Nubian, or other afrocentric groups that were most likely out well before a lot of posters time cacs and shyt, talking about bans :why: If people seriously start banning cats for their opinions or taste in music, this forum would fall off real quick. I, myself, have never listened to Brand Nubian due to the fact that I was a young child when they were out. I probably wouldn't care to now either. I know some people are trolling and saying disrespectful shyt, but let's not make generalizing statements bout folks simply because they don't listen to shyt that doesn't appeal to em. There isn't some holy prerequisite list of things one should have listened to so they can be a hip hop fan...what, do you want cats to fake the funk and act like they like shyt that was out when they were toddlers or some shyt? :wtf: Stop it brehs. You're being sanctimonious and pretentious as shyt.
There's a difference between an artist or group being before someones time and someone being blatantly disrespectful to an art form they claim to love (or at the very least like). willful ignorance and disrespect to the past generations who paved the way should not be tolerated. you don't have to like the music just show respect. brand nubian was before my time too but that didn't stop me from enjoying their music so to be honest that argument is flawed as well.

Not saying that people can't enjoy shyt well before their time, I'm saying that there's quite a few out there who don't simply because it either doesn't appeal to them or they simply don't relate. Can't hold it against them.....different strokes:manny:

So basically you typed all of that up for no reason lol and you're using that smilie to hide that fact.

It's cuz you're playing dumb, and I'm not gonna waste my time arguing with you. Your posts are in this thread for all to read. End of story.

That's part of my point. If you don't like the music, you have that right. However, to outright deny a group like Brand Nubian their props is just retarded for anyone who claims to be a part of hip-hop culture.

See he is an important piece of hiphop history to me.. but he is not a legend...not even the point tho.. my point is.. he needs to get off his high horse.. if he wants to talk shyt with Star.. and talk shyt to VLADtv.. he should expect some backlash.. its part of the game.. Puba was always the personality of BN.. if anyone gets legendary status from the group its him

I would call LJ a legend, but there are certainly degrees as to who and what is legendary, Puba will always be the face of that group for me and is really the only cat who's notable on an individual level.

As for the situation as a whole, I didn't agree with some of the shyt LJ was saying, but it doesn't mean you have to discredit his contributions to the culture. I don't think him being a "forefather" gives him much more of a right to tell people what they can or can't say or how to express themselves but you can' disagree with that without being dismissive of his impact on the game.

As for yela, I didn't make it through the whole video so I don't know if "shut your fukking mouth" was even directed at LJ specifically, it just seems funny to me that he pretty much "agreed" with the meat of his argument but there still ended up being some funk. It really just seems like VLAD is hyping this shyt up and letting miss-communication take place for ratings/hits.

And as much "knowledge" as this nikka is dropping he seems like he's oblivious to the fact that one of these "guests" are using him. Star being there makes the shyt that much more blatant.

LOL @ this, all the shyt i like is NOT all attributed to brand nubian you clown, . lol you need to get out in the real world my man.

and for the neg i got I've been listening to BN for years and i got a Grand Puba songs on ipod, but im realistic, they haven't done anything to be considered legendary in anyway. sorry but thats the truth.

anything from designer overpriced baggy to skinny jeans to rockin a designer backpack is all puba.
how to layer gear,...all from puba...
the mca model that powers most of the rnb hook driven rap you power in your car, is from puba with mary j.
the female rapper being the best, and being ghostwritten is from puba.
more wide spread knowledge of self acknowledgement and culture.
comes from all for one, damn near exclusively for that era.
record labels looking to capitalize and shut down bootlegging to sell more albums.
that came from the fiasco that ruined brand Nubians sales permeation for all for one.

if you want some more facts,.....
say some more bullshyt,...
so I can factually and culturally prove you wrong.

Will you teach them this history of this shyt and be straightforward? Cause a lot of older Hip Hop heads withhold knowledge for some reason to get a 1-Up on the young'ins.

I always drop knowledge.
I have been getting props for the shyt in the real world, since the early nineties.
on the net, since the late nineties....

people can ignore it all they want...
you still can not dispute a fact.

I bring the culturally relevant facts...
that is why wack nikkaz all over, take issue.
as I am the exposal of how wack and culturally deficient and ignorant they are.

that is also,..why young gooflame nikkaz say shyt about the legends in this culture.
as the legends directly expose these wack nikkaz of all varieties since day one.
all wack nikkaz draw issues from nikkaz who bring culture and knowledge.
that is why those wack nikkaz are ignorant.

would not have survived one day, when shyt was really real.
plus, would have had no look, no swag, no direction and no music to listen to.
just some wack goof lame nikkaz, like now.
yet, instead of playing dress up,..they would have been in their daughter's and sister's clothes.

u said ".... really white people doing it, cause any time you have something that's dominated by Alpha male black men, whites try to soften it up."

so i mentioned that Vince Mcmahon brought a white man named roddy piper wearing a skirt Mainstream to us kids growing up.
WWF was big in the 80's and 90's. it was on public tv. not cable.
i think everyone in rap grew up on it.

but then i mentioned kurt cobain wearing the same shyt kanye is rokking now. and kurt did it in 1992- his suicide.

did kanye start the skirt phaze in rap? i dont know.

as far as rappers with global permeation and impact.
yes, Kanye wore the skirt first.
culturally, Kanye knows better, and he originally tried to make it a kilt.
yet, even his own designer and stylist said he had a skirt and was trying to rename it.
that footage exist, and it was posted in this community, too.
same as asap in a skirt and others like diddy following suit.

ye, knows better as nobody he came up with in the chi.
from a cultural or street perspective.
would ever allow him or anyone to wear a skirt in their personal space, or public.
you would lose your life, in the chi doing that.
