Big Mel said in an earlier post how huge All For One was in New York when it first dropped, can only imagine. All For One, Brand Nubian, and Slow Down was getting daytime spins on local bay area radio on the west coast, I shyt y'all not. Still got a lotta them shyts recorded straight off the radio onto tapes. They
played Slow Down at the school dance. Was Brand Nubian getting play EVERWHERE on the west coast? Naw....But if you was in love with this hip hop shyt yes, you saw their videos on yo! Rap City, The Box...etc. They was in hip hop magazines, interviews, all that shyt.

Also it should be known Lord Jammar and Sadat X were 5%ers back then and now I'm pretty sure. They spit the shyt on record how they REALLY felt about america and the white man in general like all the hardcore pro black conscious groups of that era. Lord Jammar basically sayin the same shyt he would of said over 20 years ago.

Is Brand Nubian relevant today? No, but shyt, there ain't many 3 man groups or groups in hip hop period. Still doesn't take away the music them cats dropped. Most young cats ain't gonna even remember Brand Nubian if you didn't have parents that listened to hip hop or older brothers n sisters.

To my young bruhs.....Definitely check them cats out. YouTube, iTunes......One For All. In God We Trust definitely. The latter is a lot more hardcore.

I can see what you sayin, but come on now, show me what he (lord jamar) said that was out of line?

I never said he was out of line for his views on whites being guests, I felt like he's out of line for thinking that him being a member of Brand Nubian gives him some kind of veto power over someone else's creativity.

All that other shyt about the back and forth with yela after the fact is whatever, he was well within his right to react however he wanted to, I never shytted on his rep, his group, his legacy, or even his opinion up the the point where he crossed that particular line.

Come on breh, it ain't no written rules. Who woul promulgate the rules? But there is mos def a code or unwritten rules.

There are customs, norms, ideals, yes and even these are subject to change as the culture itself changes.

But basic artistic ideals like being knowledgeable about your passion, originality and even preservation of competitive spirit are cornerstones of ANY craft or or means of expression. But none of these dictate where you can and can't take your creativity within the culture.

that shyt ain't never change.
it is just politicized by nikkaz on bullshyt in the rap game.
to try to create a fake archetype of a pass system.
so, they can rape the culture and ruin lives already mired in poverty.

real bboy's ain't going and never went...which is why forty years, and five to six gen of this community and board, later.
you still got the bboys on this site, still wrecking shyt.

So....does anyone care to give me a Cliffs Notes on what this is about? I didn't even know Yelawolf/Lord Jamar knew each other existed, let alone had some kind of beef with each other.

Jamar gave an interview in which he said hip hop was becoming feminized and that whites were just guests in hip hop and need to fall back on weighing in on the culture. Might've been two separate interviews. Yela was asked about it and acknowledged some of Jamar's points, disagreed with others. At some point he told Jamar to shyt up and suck his dikk and let Jamar know where to find him. Maybe that happened on twitter. I ain't one to pay attention to this kind of shyt. Finally Jamar and Star addressed Yela's comments. which inspired this thread.

This is the part that's confusing me. He went from 0 to 60 like that? Like "yeah, I feel what you're saying to some degree, but I do disagree somewhat.....by the way, suck my dikk"?

I'm looking for the segue way I guess, from them disagreeing, to the full-on disrespect. Unless there isn't one and it's just abrupt like that.

While its true hip hop is the only genre where you see younger fans "shytting" on the artists who came before This idea that most younger fans from other genres are actually out hear bumping shyt from 30 years ago is a joke:laff:

The average 17 year old rock fan does not give a fukk about the Beatles like the average 17 year old hip hop fan does not give a fukk about KRS one. The primary difference however is the rock fan aint gonna disrespect the beatles and say their WACK , he's just gonna say I don't mess with their music
