Novak got the ball when he was open, he just didnt get open enough

I partially agree with you, it wasnt the most efficient 18ppg but Id rather have someone that shoots too much as opposed to someone thats afraid to shoot. Lets not forgot its Woodson that has constantly encouraged JR to chuck

I dont wanna make JR sound like a one dimensional ball player. His 5.3rpg last year would rank him 3rd among SG's this year. And 3.1apg would have him tied for 12th among SG's this year

At the end of the day a good argument can be made either way for JR, I cant front on that. But there's no need for the name calling and hating on others opinions. We all Knicks fans here :salute:
Fair respect that stance, lets not act like he's not a career long ball hogging ass cancer, nikka was even having brawls in china and shyt:heh:

Copeland had some really nice games and moments but he didnt prove to me that he's a legit 2nd scoring option or 6th man over the course of an 82 game season
I didnt say that I said he could contritbute to this team where a career 6 man is the 2nd best option

Just think how the knicks could have improved had they gave copeland more of a shot and more minutes they could of had a line up of:

Chandler
Melo
Copeland
Shump
And whoever the fukk at point

Smith(as 6th man like he should be)

That length would have caused major issues for the east, but yall forgetful ass knick fans remember this conversation when Copeland is beasting 2 years from now, in classic former knick fashion

i know Kemba destroys the Knicks every time we play the Bobcats, but i dunno. He's a gutty ass player, young, quick, has a midrange game & is better than our PGs combined tho for sure...but he's not very efficient.

Regarding JR - didn't the Knicks pay a big sum of his contract up front...like $15MM up front or something? How much of a cap burden would he still be if it's that serious? Or maybe just arrange a buyout for him at this point if there are no trades available whatsoever?
Kembas numbers would look better playing with Melo...

He on a loaded team, are you gonna ignore all 30 point games off the bench last year, would Copeland and his offensive prowess not help this weak ass Knicks team with a 6 man as a 2nd option:comeon:

the fukk are you talking about, Cope had 2 30pt games and that was against scrubs in our last 2 games of the season :dammitJR:

and fukk him, joining a team that eliminated you just months ago FOH :rudy:

J.R. Smith was benched again after grumbling about OT minutes

INDIANAPOLIS — J.R. Smith was bellyaching on the bench to his Knicks teammates about not playing during Monday’s overtime session against the Suns, according to an eyewitness.

The source said Smith appeared “disconnected” during overtime and reportedly also was late for a team meeting in the hotel before the Knicks faced Charlotte on Tuesday.

He was benched for that night’s game versus the Bobcats.

Coach Mike Woodson has refused to comment specifically on Smith’s recent benchings, but the surly shooting guard being vocal about playing just 45 seconds of the 5-minute overtime as the Knicks pulled out the 98-96 Garden victory over the Suns was another example of him putting himself ahead of the team.

Woodson criticized Smith on Wednesday on his radio spot for not always thinking about the team first, but said he won’t give up on Smith, and balked when asked whether Smith might be traded.

Smith became eligible to be dealt Wednesday, under a provision of the collective bargaining agreement, but Woodson made a trade sound unlikely for now.

“J.R. is wearing a Knick uniform,’’ Woodson said on his weekly ESPN Radio spot. “He’s here. We’re all in J.R.’s corner. That’s never going to change. I’ve been one of his biggest supporters. That will never change. But again, it’s all about team. It’s not about Mike Woodson. It’s not about J.R. It’s doing the right things on and off the floor.

“I’m not kicking J.R. to the curb. J.R. is a big part of what we’ve done here, and he’ll remain a big part. But he has to make sure he’s on the same page as the head coach.’’

Indeed, Smith is now on a zero-tolerance policy, and based on his track record, it’s hard to imagine his long-term compliance.

“Nobody is bigger than the team,’’ Woodson added. “It’s never been about individuals. The success we’ve had is based on team. That’s been my approach from Day One. I got to police players and doing what’s asked of them. J.R.’s no different. When he’s not doing what he’s supposed to do, I got to let him know about.’’

Woodson was asked on the radio whether he had spoken with Smith on Wednesday in the aftermath of the player’s second game-long benching in four contests.

“After a while, enough talk is enough talk, and the player has to be held accountable,” Woodson said. “We’re at that point.”

It didn’t sound as if the benching would last long, however, saying the club still is dependent on his scoring.

“Every player has responsibility and to be held accountable what they do on a ballclub,’’ Woodson said. “I’ll leave it that. We want the best for J.R. He’s got to be more of a pro in terms of his approach to the game. Him doing that will help us from a basketball standpoint. We need J.R. to play, but again he’s got to grow up and be more of a pro about his approach.’’

Woodson confident Carmelo will finish career with Knicks

INDIANAPOLIS — Will this MSG circus ultimately lead Carmelo Anthony to want to bolt town this summer as a free agent?

Knicks coach Mike Woodson doesn’t think so, repeating Melo’s words from November that he believes he’ll “retire’’ in orange and blue.

Anthony has supported J.R. Smith during his crisis with Woodson and Knicks brass that has led to two full-game benchings in the last four contests, having lost his spot as first wing off the bench to rookie Tim Hardaway Jr.

Anthony repeatedly has said the Knicks need Smith on the court but won’t interfere. Anthony is a longtime teammate of Smith back to their Denver days. But as The Post reported in 2012, he had his concerns about Smith joining him in New York because of his baggage.

But that’s not enough persuade Anthony to leave the Knicks, according to Woodson.

“There’s a concern, but again Melo’s wearing a Knick uniform,” Woodson said on his weekly ESPN Radio appearance. “I think Melo loves playing in New York. I think he’s been one of the bright spots this year. He hasn’t taken any games off — solid all the way through our ups and downs. That’s a sign of a true pro. Melo trying to do the right things. As far as Melo leaving New York, in my heart I don’t think he’s going to leave New York. I think he’ll retire a New York Knick. That’s my own personal belief.’’

After the benching of Smith on Tuesday at Charlotte, Anthony said, “The only thing I could do is keep giving him positive energy. That’s the only thing I could do. Whatever’s going on with him and Woody, they have to deal with that. Of course we missed him. He’s a big part of our team. Sometimes the way he goes, we go. We miss him. Hopefully this will be it.’’
