the issue with this is that golf is not popular in the black community in general for black golf courses to sustain themselves. and for the segment that it was popular (upper middle class silent generation and their children the boomers), most of them are old and dying out. we’ve always had a number of golf social clubs that would travel around to both black courses and clubs that were open to blacks but black owned courses were minimal.

with that said, there are a number of courses that are predominantly black.

for instance, the south side of chicago has a number of courses that are frequented by a predominantly black patronage and we consider these ‘ours’ - south shore country club, jackson park golf course, and joe louis golf course, although whites have been trickling down from the north side to come play at our courses. they are public so not privately owned.
