truth

It's capitalism. The old white dudes at the top that own the big businesses are gonna slant that stat no matter what :snoop: Not to mention women only been in the workforce for under a century still.

People like the stat cause it lets them make up their own bs conclusions to follow.

Do yall believe in the race wage gap?
Only as far that some races are making more money than others.

The problem is people use broad ass stats to draw narrow dumb conclusions. Take race wage gap, now that Asians make the most money per household does that mean companies are paying asians more.....or are asians just making more money per household?

Wage gaps exist, I've seen it first hand. I saw 3 people get promoted . All around the same age, experience, and qualifications.

White guy got 43k yearly
White girl got 40k yearly
Black guy got 37k yearly and was told yearly raises would boost him up in the 40's.

The black guy and the white girl were promoted on the same day. The white guy was two weeks ahead of them.

That would be misapplying stats. You can't take household income (aggregate data) and apply it to individual workforce outcomes. However, I've never see anyone use household income to discuss wage gaps. I've see people use data on wages though. Even black men make less than white women. You can't tell me something nefarious isn't going on...

It's not true because most importantly

Women earn less because they work in industries that pay less.

And when you compare like to like?

Last I saw even in similar positions with similar experience there was a definite skew.

When you account for occupation and experience, the gap narrows but still exists (esp as higher occupational levels)

I know. The thing is, even with this example there are too many things that slant these broad general stats.

For example: Based on this graph do you think companies are hiring Black dudes more than Hispanic ones just off GP? Even white looking Hispanic men? :leon: Or do you think the fact that most of the Hispanic workforce is doing unskilled labor have something to do with it?

I'm not saying there isn't foul play and bias in hiring practice and wages but that happens on a individual level and case by case usually. Only way to mitigate it is to be the one dishing out the jobs. :yeshrug:
