The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III | PS4 | 10/22/19
This game is a much better version of Cold Steel 1. It's shaping up to be my favorite in the Cold Steel series. I bought a physical copy I'll never open and also copped a digital copy that I've been playing. Very much loving my time with this one.

The save transfers didn’t do much of anything just some bonus items really. I’m at Chapter 3 now and to me this is a top 3 game in this series and the best JRPG I’ve played in a long time. Makes me a bit sad the next game is just supposedly ok in comparison and on the level of CSII which I was lukewarm on.

I gotta give the slight edge to Fire Emblem Three Houses for JRPG of the year at this point but this is still an amazing game. I'll need a bit more time but there's a good case for this being the best game in the entire Trails series. It's by far the best game in the Cold Steel sub-series.
I'm 70 hours in and at the end of chapter 4 almost so after that is the final chapter. I doubt the ending will be solid given this is a cliffhanger end.
Altina a character I didn't like in CS2 is my MVP of this game. I don't use her in battles but her development as a character was interesting to watch. Her dynamic with Millium, Rean, and Juna was nice. Musse is right up there. Not for development but the outlandish way she acts.
Rean is a great character in this game. He mostly sucks in CS and CS2 but in 3 this is the role he was made for. Huge payoff here. Can't forget Aurelia either. She was great in this game.

you need to play the 5 games before cold steel to understand the story or you will be lost at the end of cold steel II

yea it does you won't know who a lot of characters, especially in part IV where they bring back a lot of those characters from the first II games
the ending of II won't make any sense if you never played the crossbell games I got them all on PC
its like telling somebody to watch avengers endgame and not other marvel movies

i'd say the first two cold steel games sure but outside of that? you'll be aite
The first two cold steel games barely cover the main story, now until the very end of those games you can't possible understand the plot without the other games, all you will understand is the character relationships of the students, which isn't the main plot of the series. The first cold steel is a persona 5 life simulator for the majority of the game, you don't have to play the first two to play cold steel III because the cast of the first two are barley in the game except Rean the main character who's back story was barely touched upon the first two games and can easily be followed in the third.
Everything else about the plot you have to understand from playing the other games, thats just the way its designed
and second Cold Steel should've been DLC, its not even a full game, its about rehash and fluff, and bloated game sections, that barely move the plot
