I don't know man. You seem to be only looking at the big stage where I'm looking at the overall product. I clearly remember seeing battles like qleen vs bmagic as a pg. I remember there being great pg battles.
In fact, there have been a couple of URL years where the PG battles were the best content the URL was putting out.
Maybe I'm tripping, but I should be able to click on any battle whether it's pg, midtier, or big stage and get some solid match ups.
I don't expect that at all. The PGs are intended to be a showcase. They aren't really "the product", they're try-out battles.
When you watched Qleen vs B Magic it was two guys trying to show you how talented they were. I don't remember it for the personal attacks.
Another function that the PGs serve is to eliminate competition. The same guy that has a local name and might get a few hundred to battle will clear his plate to do a PG battle. He might have headlined a small event, but instead he's traveling to NYC to do a PG, because the world keeps telling him they want to see him on the "big stage". Either that, or a small league will pay Norbes to host, and GIVE Norbes their best footage. I was initially annoyed at how the whole PG process has been whored out, but I understand it now. And if you put the PGs on a separate channel, it makes that dangling carrot a bit smaller, so they will continue to get dropped on the main channel.
