main stage is a bigger testing ground, some moments feel special rather than feeling like a dope bar at that time. example DNA telling Smack to GTFOH, the way they had the camera pan out to show the entire venue going crazy and making it literally look like it shook the building.

compare that to Ryda scorpion stance bar...it got great crowd reaction and brought the battle to a halt...but it just felt like a dope haymaker rather than something special

That's cool and all for the reactions from the crowd and the camera work. But I definitely never got why is it so special when it feels like the fans love to nitpick everything on the main stage and lately it feels like...one minute a battle is dope when it goes down....the battle gets released and people are shytting all over it. Maybe its just me.

Main stage classics >>>>> small room classics in terms of impact. Case in point SM2. Or more recently NWX vs Guntitles.

And the main stage will always be a bigger deal because of what I pointed out above and there are bigger crowds, more energy. And like it or not for battle rap to grow the stages have to get bigger.

Its like a rapper saying fukk going on tour in front of hundreds of thousands, he'd rather perform at a hole in the wall in bumblefukk St. Louis. Pure lunacy.

An aspiring artist wants to eventually get on the biggest platform possible. A growing genre of entertainment needs the biggest platforms possible. Only way they can grow.

Still. We end up with complaints about the footage, when battles drop, constant bickering about the talent, and who won overall. That's why I'm saying what I'm saying. And SM2 was how long ago? Guntitles vs. NWX didn't even get finished the first time around because a fight broke and the 2nd time the battle was underwhelming.

Like I said, to a degree.....I don't like the main stage for myriad of these reasons. The end result of the shyt now pisses me off.

Lol i remember when Kendrick was a nobody battling Charles Hamilton in a club some years ago.

Damn how times change

I didn't know Kendrick battled Charles Hamilton. I do remember Charles Hamilton got washed by Serius Jones though.
I also remember a young Adam Ferrone (Rone) giving Charles Hamilton some work also. That made Worldstar, and it was before Rone ever did a Grind Time battle.

I don't know man. You seem to be only looking at the big stage where I'm looking at the overall product. I clearly remember seeing battles like qleen vs bmagic as a pg. I remember there being great pg battles.

In fact, there have been a couple of URL years where the PG battles were the best content the URL was putting out.

Maybe I'm tripping, but I should be able to click on any battle whether it's pg, midtier, or big stage and get some solid match ups.

I don't expect that at all. The PGs are intended to be a showcase. They aren't really "the product", they're try-out battles.
When you watched Qleen vs B Magic it was two guys trying to show you how talented they were. I don't remember it for the personal attacks.

Another function that the PGs serve is to eliminate competition. The same guy that has a local name and might get a few hundred to battle will clear his plate to do a PG battle. He might have headlined a small event, but instead he's traveling to NYC to do a PG, because the world keeps telling him they want to see him on the "big stage". Either that, or a small league will pay Norbes to host, and GIVE Norbes their best footage. I was initially annoyed at how the whole PG process has been whored out, but I understand it now. And if you put the PGs on a separate channel, it makes that dangling carrot a bit smaller, so they will continue to get dropped on the main channel.
