:mjlol:im not even mad at the dude that gave mook-lux 2 to lux.

I recently watched and convinced the perception of this battle would be different if it took place somewhere else.

Mook was real bad here. Sounded very outdated.

Everyone on that card was bad that night.

The problem is Lux himself said Mook was the better man that night between the two of them

why are ppl trying to argue for someone who has accepted his L in several interviews, I'm not understanding this at all

I think the assumption that he missed out on anything is off base. He was locked in for 70k for the Surf battle, but that fell through. He didn't start ASKING anyone to book him. The fans constantly ask him, John John called him out and said he can get the sponsors, now we are here.

Once you stop looking at it like he desperately needs bread, you'll see he's just putting a business proposition out there. It's safe to say he will be promoting a new musical project next year under Busta's Conglomerate. Battling multiple times in a year would help him promote the project. Also, multiple battles means that his naysayers can't discredit everything he's ever done if he has a rough night. And I'm sure there are even more reasons beyond that, because dude is all about mapping things out.

You're calling him dumb when he's managed his career better than damn near anyone in battle rap. Especially when you consider he doesn't translate all that well to people that don't follow battle rap. Your favorite battle rappers would be pretty excited to get advice from Mook. You have guys out here like Math, Rex, Verb, Daylyt, etc. that are in limbo. They want to move on from battle rap, but they don't have the means to do so. Mook is chilling.

Nah breh. Just state the obvious: Mook was holding out for a massive battle rap payday that never came.

His plan of not battling and building up mystique and getting a six figure check completely backfired and everybody knows it.

Dude still lives in the hood, and made an IG post about student loans a couple years back. He might be doing OK by battle rapper standards but he's not caking by any means. Dude was in no position to leave as much money on the table as he did (if what we've heard is true)

You really think dude will cake off music projects in 2017? He failed on ruff ryders a few years ago. It's taken dude how long to drop an album? What's it going to do like 5,000 downloads? Busta Rhymes is barely making income from releasing music these days let alone somebody signed to Busta's label

Nobody is saying Mook should have went the Aye Verb or T Rex route but he should have went the Lux route and battle a handful of times in the last few years. At $20k+ a pop he'd have made well over 6 figures by now

Again, just call a spade a spade. It's not a fukking business proposition. Dude's plan of building demand and creating allure completely backfired and now he's trying to get a sponsor to commit to 10 battles because he's desperate and trying to make up for lost money/ time

I wanted to give lux that win so badly

Cause mook is trash.

And that battle is garbage.

But mook clearly took it. We can't lie to ourselves about that. Lux only had 1 good round but mook might have took that 1st as he stole the crowd, and as much as I see people consider performance over these "bars, lyrical" guys you can't change the standard now cause mook clearly rocked that 1st rd. People want to recognize rocking a crowd or someone not being able to stand in front of a performance dude on a big stage when they want to judge tay roc and suge battles but this goes out the window when they talking lux battles? Smh naw sorry mook rocked lux in the 1st, lux 2nd lost a ton of steam and mook was slightly better and lux just had a terrible 3rd, mook took that.

And that's just being honest

Mook beat the shyt out of lux and wasn't really as bad as we say(wasn't great either). He put those rounds together very well and his 3rd was perfect for where it was performed. Lux had a dope 1st, terrible 2nd and his 3rd would have been good on url, not total slaughter. Literally no one knew what he was talking about with the personals. Clear win for mook.

Even though I would only watch that battle again for Lux's rounds, Mook won clearly. Both of them were bad but Mook was direct and won the crowd. Lux's rounds are just better to listen to from a rap perspective.

I am calling a spade a spade. You resent Mook for some weird reason, and you enjoy the idea of him being desperate, so you created this narrative to bash him. Do you know what desperate people do?
They take shorts, and jump at every offer presented. Mook is the exact opposite. Like you said, he's holding out for big paydays. I don't have any interest in seeing him battle 10x, but the proposition doesn't look desperate to me. Desperate is Verb trying to bait B Dot into battling him St. Louis, and getting dubbed. Verb ended up not even being on that card.

How do you know where he lives?

Student loans mean that you don't make a decent income? lmao

You don't think other battle rappers would be clowning the shyt out of Mook if he was broke in the hood? C'mon.... he would be getting dissed left and right. Instead, these guys show him a lot of respect. I don't see anyone calling out Serius Jones to battle.

Please tell me more about this 10 battle commitment plan.

I'm out the loop.

As @wizworld has already stated, Mook views maintaining his status in the long term more important than just getting a payday. As long as he has this status, he's always able to get these little opportunities that come his way.

He does just enough to keep his name attached to battle rap without actually battling.

Busta is probably a bigger fan of Mook than vice versa. Nyggas still have a fondness for the Smack DVD battles. Why? I don't know, as there have been better battles in the URL.

SMACK DVD battles were classics and played a big role in battle rap. A lot of folks grew up watch SMACK DVDs so they mean a lot.

Folks just like how raw those battles were.
