"The Jaguars are "not likely" to sign free agent running back DeMarco Murray, reports Pro Football Talk. That could change, however, if Jacksonville decides to up its offer.

Currently, the Raiders and Cowboys remain the prime contenders for Murray, who led the NFL with 1,845 rushing yards last season, per the report. Murray spent his first four seasons with Dallas. He's reportedly trying to land a contract worth $8 million annually."

I read this comment on a raider article on espin.

At what point did you think top tier free agents would sign with a three win team without being grosslyoverpaid? Where did that expectation come from? They were NEVER coming to Oakland when better teams had cap space. The Raiders destroyed their pipeline of talent by treating the draft as a joke for 10 years before RM took over, these things don't get fixed in a couple of years. RM is signing younger guys this time to fill some gaps, we will have to draft our stars, not buy them in free agency.

I kinda agree raider brehs. I know some of you think that we should shoot for the moon and that all the superstar free agents want to be raiders (I think this way too) but the reality is that we need to draft our stars instead of overpaying for them. That's how we got in cap hell in the first place. Hopefully Mcaczie knocks this draft out off the park cause I would like to see an old raider I used to root for succeed but if he doesn't I'll be one of the many raider brehs calling for his head. :manny: Just my 2 cents.

I know drafting is the smart way that its done, but with our track record, drafting has never been our strong point for the longest time and i think a lot of us are worried about falling back into that record. Was last year different? Yes, but i think its the fact that most of are just straight tired of losing we are tired of the building back up over and over and want to finally see those wins come like they used to.

Frustration, disappointment is where that thought in FA came from. shyt even call it well wishing, we were just hoping, the other players would see what we see and would come over and Reggie would be making rain on them hoes. But it didnt happen, im not saying we didnt pick up good people, im saying, with the ones that were ready to come over we dropped the ball, somewhat.

Deep down I know no top tier free agents isn't coming to a 3 and 13 team, with a horrible Management team and a run down dirt stadium..

But this team at least need to take a shot at a guy like hardy...

Meh, I was fine not throwing 25 Mil at Suh and shyt, but I see no problem with giving 2-3 targeted guys a couple mil extra a year. Like even now I would give hardy 2 mil a year more then his other offers. This way we can bring in guys that people want to play with and who can make an impact. We wasted money on guys like MJD, Schuab, and Woodley. That money could have be used to lure a couple young solid guys

Which is why we have to overpay for a year or two. No use trying to get a fair market deal. Overpay for a few guys who can play. When we're finally back on track, you can get those good deals. But right now you have to get guys here with money
