It's been a disappointing offseason so far, but in all honesty, how many elite game-changing free agents were even available?
Suh? The Raiders would have had to offer like 130 mil plus 70 mil guaranteed to be competitive (considering CA state tax)
Revis? He was obviously considering only NE and the Jets
After that you got guys like Randall Cobb and Julius Thomas who look better than they are because of their elite quarterbacks. It would have been nice to get someone like that, but the Raiders would have had to overpay massively for guys who would help marginally. Word is they offered Cobb 11 mil per year and he stayed with GB for 10 mil a year. How much should they overpay for a slot receiver who is not really a number one?
Hudson is a good player. Dan Williams is just about as good as Terrance Knighton. I like the additions of Lofton and Smith.
The Raiders may have a lot of cap space, but their inability to use it to acquire superstars is because there just aren't many on the market. Most teams had to settle for consolation prizes.
Let's wait and see how the draft goes. I think the Raiders are trying to build the team the right way. They don't always look good doing it, but I think that has a lot to do with the market and with their limitations (history of losing, poor facilities, etc.). They have the right general idea and are slowly but surely building a foundation for the future.
