On the same token, there are double minded fans who will denounce "superthug" rap because they don't like the artists, but praise other rappers who do the same because they like them. It's like people who claim they don't eat pork because they don't eat chitlins, pig feet, and pig ears because those were the scraps fed to slaves, but will indulge in pork ribs.
Alternative Hip Hop existed for a reason, but that label was frowned upon and anything that fell under that umbrella was looked at as "soft" or "lame".
