Trae Young scheduled to meet with Knicks on Friday, says father

Oklahoma standout Trae Young will meet with the New York Knicks on Friday, his father told the New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy.

The Knicks pick ninth at the NBA draft on June 21, a spot where Young could still be available. The college flamethrower has made no secret of his desire to land in the pressure cooker of New York, saying in March that it would be "a blessing."

"That's what Trae lives for. He lives for that type of stuff," Ray Young told Bondy. "He's probably the most talked about, most publicized kid in this draft and he's been through it all. Trae's been scrutinized to the point that he has thick skin. He was like the darling of college basketball for three months, and then the last month-and-a-half he turned into a bad guy, for some reason."

Young also gave his son the edge over fellow draft entrant Collin Sexton, another scoring guard who could be in the Knicks' wheelhouse.

"The way they're different, I think Trae does it all," Young said. "That's not to say Collin is not an all-around player or an all-around point guard, but Trae's proven."

Before Kristaps Porzingis and David Lee, the last player drafted by the Knicks to become an All-Star for them was Mark Jackson in 1989.

Young is gonna be a good player. I watch mad big 12 games, teams ain’t gonna be able to do what they did to fukk his game up there in the league. His team was awful.

KP and Young would work well together. Only problem is young is immature. NY media spotlight might be too much for him. He was clearly exhausted with it this season, and New York is its own beast.
