You sir are part of the problem than. Doesn't matter how much federal funding and HBCU has if it's gonna always look inferior to a PWI. Some of these schools been around since the 1800s without federal or state aid. They had no problem with building and infrastructure for decades. Why? Becuz we spent our money there. But of course white is right so as soon as we could get accepted there we threw HBCUs in the bushes. Yet wanna complain when they don't have money and expect white daddy to help. The same white daddy who would lock us up in a heart beat we are depending on for education smh. All I see on the coli everyday is a bunch of excuses

"Black people don't have good customer service"

"HBCUs are unprofessional"

"Black barbershops cost too much and I have to wait too long"

"Black restaurants charge too much"

And then we wonder why we aren't getting anywhere. Yes we are he victims of white supremacy but we gotta clean this shyt up ourselves becuz they definitely not gonna do it for us

nikkas will never allow a cac to touch the hair on they head though:pachaha:

But we allow them to educate the brain inside of it,with no regard or corrections to the cirriculum:martin:

Ahh yes, the old once we realize that they don't have our best interests at heart we'll start doing things for ourselves argument. The notion that there's some extra gear that African-Americans will be able to magically turn on is silly. Most African-Americans won't even know that this is even being discussed. The truth is that the only thing that will happen during Trump's presidency is that things will get slightly worse for African-Americans.
You obviously no nothing about black history idiot. Get off the internet and read a book you fukking idiot.

How far back in black history you trying to go?

I would American Negro Slave Revolts and Black Marxism by Cedric Robinson
I have read a lot of autobiographies, i.e Malcolm X, Langston Hughes, Richard Wright and several more. I've read all of Dr. King's books. I have read several of W.E.B. DuBois' books. I have the pdf for DuBois' magnum opus, Black Reconstruction in America. I'll look into those books. Always good to acquire more knowledge.

A couple things to point out about Yvette's stance on this:

Her overall point was that it was the fiduciary responsibility of those HBCU presidents to meet with Trump given the fact that a large part of their funding comes from the federal government and he has a great amount of control over the discretionary spending as we see in the premise of this thread. You may argue they did not have any leverage but it is still their duty to try and negotiate funds to make sure those black students can go to school, they may not have been successful but they have to at least try. Calling them "c00ns" because they did this is narrow minded IMO and people are using this news article to confirm the reason for doing so.

Yvette is not a Trump supporter she has stated several times that Bernie was the best candidate for black people in terms of his polices lining up with some of our core needs (free college, jobs etc). The one exception where she does agree with Trump in a way is on immigration primarily because of how it detrimentally effects black people since many of us occupy the same low level/unskilled employment spaces.

Much of what she talks about in relation to the Trump presidency is a compare and contrast to the Obama presidency and how blacks tend to have an all-in support of Obama despite his polices that hurt blacks simply because of skin color.

We really gotta start a book club I got over 150-200 books on black history/ black studies and I'm looking to build more during this summer.

This summer I want to research more about 1919, the violence and its after effects on American society, particularly around Elaine, AR

Well, not surprised. He used the HBCU presidents for a photo op and then pulled their cards. Same way he used several other black people for convenient photo ops under the guise of getting insight and then we've never heard anything of these meetings.

But this has been going on for decades at this point, so I'm not sure what's so different about Trump doing it :yeshrug:

Sadly, black people keep falling for it. And that's the issue. Real policy discussion doesn't need a podium and photographers :sas1:

This is bad, but HBCUs have been floundering for many years now. Partly because of a lack of government funding and partly because the alumni does not do a great job of building endowment. HBCUs have lost value in the eyes of white supremacists over the years as they no longer need to pretend to want qualified black people for jobs. So, it goes to reason that HBCUs would begin to suffer.

Black people are going to be the ones who save HBCUs if they are to be saved at all :ehh:

Maybe the masses of black people need to get in line with the "Adopt-a-HBCU" line and making consistent donations to a HBCU of your choice. Even if you didn't attend that school for college. Yes, the federal government should help maintain these schools as they are part of the educational eco system of this country and have provided thousands of black scholars and professionals.

But expecting white supremacy to do what's right by black people is like expecting a lion to stop killing water buffalo :russell:

But but Obama didn't do shyt for black people. :mjlol:

What did he do? In terms of policy that is on the books now :jbhmm:

And I mean policy directly tailored to helping black people. Not "poor" people. Not "people of color." Not "minorities." Not "urban communities." Not any other ambiguous, politically disingenuous term.

Peace
