Well, not surprised. He used the HBCU presidents for a photo op and then pulled their cards. Same way he used several other black people for convenient photo ops under the guise of getting insight and then we've never heard anything of these meetings.
But this has been going on for decades at this point, so I'm not sure what's so different about Trump doing it
Sadly, black people keep falling for it. And that's the issue. Real policy discussion doesn't need a podium and photographers
This is bad, but HBCUs have been floundering for many years now. Partly because of a lack of government funding and partly because the alumni does not do a great job of building endowment. HBCUs have lost value in the eyes of white supremacists over the years as they no longer need to pretend to want qualified black people for jobs. So, it goes to reason that HBCUs would begin to suffer.
Black people are going to be the ones who save HBCUs if they are to be saved at all
Maybe the masses of black people need to get in line with the "Adopt-a-HBCU" line and making consistent donations to a HBCU of your choice. Even if you didn't attend that school for college. Yes, the federal government should help maintain these schools as they are part of the educational eco system of this country and have provided thousands of black scholars and professionals.
But expecting white supremacy to do what's right by black people is like expecting a lion to stop killing water buffalo
