Like it or not, Trump is a GREAT wake up call for blacks. Anything white people have done to "help" us is temporary and can easily be taken away. We have been too comfortable for too long. Truly believing the same government that made it legal to discriminate against us and wrote laws to keep us oppressed, actually gives a damn about our overall well-being.

Not minimize this point because I agree with 110%. But this can be applied to any government and political institutions. People forget that laws and constitutions at the end of the day are just pieces of paper and abstract ideas.

If people aren't active day to day to keep an eye on their government and people in society adhere to those ideas, then they can easily be taken apart and discarded. It's like the law of jaywalking. Yeah it's illegal but it means nothing being illegal if you don't actually enforce it with something tangible like law enforcement.

Black people rights can be easily wiped away ina blink of an eye if the situation is right. A piece of paper won't protect you against bad actors who are determined.

Not really something to pass. He just needs to take an executive action stating he will not implement this portion of the budget from congress.

Basically congress says it wants money to go to this program and trump can say "well will put this money to the side and not use it as intended." This is what trump is proposing and has been done before as mentioned in the article for other budget items.
