Don't act like we are facing the same issues - cause we are not. Also, be understanding of that -- and stop acting like that isn't true.

Sigh. Many... I always recommend reading: The Case for Reparations

So you're saying people like Obama, Malcom X, Kamala Harris, and Colin Powell didn't face the same issues multigenerational AAs faced growing up? :mjlol:

:jbhmm: That is fishy though everytime we mention things specific to the AA struggle we basically told to get over it. Applying for programs we fought and the data shows cacs will pick a immigrant over a AA.
But it's whatever I thought it was an interesting article. IF you want the entire context watch yvette video because what ya'll are arguging isn't the point

Can you watch the video you speaking on color. The haitian struggle isn't the same as AA I don't know why that makes you upset bruh. You have a nation to your own we have nada. Ya'll still come here regardless of this country racist history. AAs didn't have a choice. But it's whatever I like the entire disporia but seems like our specific issues as AA always get pushed to the back burner and we have to champion other groups agendas before our owns.

Remember when those African Brit actors told us that they were better trained thus they get the roles that AA's used to get...
David Harewood says black British actors may be better suited to American roles

When Samuel L. Jackson had a problem with Get Out not having an African American actor in a distinctly African American story...he was told he was being divisive...

This Pan-African thing seems one sided...."We are all Black thing..."

It seems like everybody can benefit from the USA except us...

This concept was invented in the West.

They want to put Africans into a monolithic box. :russ:

Like Somalis are plotting with Yorubas and Igbos to become secret model minorities.

Not really...

And if anything unfortunately everyone is already put in the same box because Black immigrants are able to receive the same rights and privileges as native born Blacks....

It's the same issue that South Asians and Pacific Islanders have with East Asians.

Instead of deflecting the issue...

With this idea that all of us get treated the same...since we don't...and it's obvious that we don't cause we can look at the educational attainment. The median networth and all of that...of every group in the USA....

Instead of saying yeah....you try to act like you get treated the same as African Americans...

African Americans are actually saying, we are not a monolith, we are different from Nigerians, Somalians and etc.

You guys are on the argument of us being the same, treated with the same status and rights as AAs.

See - deflection.

The issue is you and many look at Black America via post Civil Rights -- with out taking in account what happened before and how that STILL affects us today.

What issues do you face a African/WI, etc? Tell me that first?

Because your skin is black - you are viewed as the same as Black Americans --right?
Believe me...you and I both know that isn't true.

But, it's fine  A change is on it's way.

:heh:

Right. Cause ATR and spirituality studies is a interest/hobby is mine. Plus, it's important in my personal life.

A hobby recommendation for you: Black American history: enslavement, the civil war, reconstruction, Jim Crow...

Or it may be easier to continue using the degrading words that were used against Blacks in America --like "c00n" --- but not interested to know the history and pain behind the term.

I grew up in American schools, you think I don't know AA history?

Do you practice African religions or cac religions?

First of all it's not some code because like someone previously pointed out. The group of African immigrants are from different countries in the continent so different experiences. So there is no code secret society shyt going on. Secondly, the "success" of Africans and West Indians compared to AAs is and has been lately used as a way to rally around AAs to point out that these groups are complicit in white supremacy when myself and others have demonstrated through both personal experiences and data that that representation is not entirely accurate because different immigrant population experience different types of success or lack thereof. You cannot compare the Somalis in Minnesota or South Sudanese in Maine to the Nigerians in Houston, TX.

The topic is getting exhaustive and people from both sides of the argument have had their say and everybody knows where they stand so rehashing causes people to shut down conversation or suspect that some have an agenda.

One of the most common and newest wave of African immigrants are not highly educated of economic migrants but people who are fleeing conflicts from places like DR Congo.

US accepts more refugees from DRC than Syria amid warnings over militants

Everyone is complicit in White Supremacy in some form.

We aren't talking about complicity.

We are talking about treatment and level of opportunities that are being afforded.
