Nope...gonna take more than a cheap pop pandering to the crowd move like throwing some old school rappers on this wack shyt to make me embrace it...

:camby:

shyt is garbage, and I now hate him more for his attempts for brownie points...i don't care if this nikka copped a DeLorean with the flux capacitor kit, went back in time to pay for big and pacs funerals...he's still wack

Hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have finally returned today after what has seemed like a long absence from the music world. The producer/rapper pairing dropped their new single “Downtown” out of nowhere this morning, exciting fans everywhere who have been waiting.

The song is another healthy serving of the signature style that has made them both stars, mixing throwback production quality with silliness and undeniable catchiness. Whereas the group’s first major hit “Thrift Shop” saw Macklemore rapping about shopping on a budget, this time he’s looking to spend less than $1,000 on a moped. Yes, a moped. It seems like no matter what he’s actually singing about, the Seattle rapper goes out of his way to reject almost all common themes in hip-hop, such as luxury cars and expensive clothes…while simultaneously name-dropping those that do indulge, like Birdman and Scott Storch.

Both the video and the song obviously take the lead from Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ massive hit “Uptown Funk!”, which looked to the past for inspiration. The video, like the song, is an enormous affair, and one that hooks you from the start. The horn-laden chorus and the chosen vocalist are reminiscent of some old-school Queen grandeur, and the visuals reflects that.

“Downtown” is the official lead single from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ as-yet-untitled upcoming sophomore album together. Their first, 2012’sThe Heist, became a surprise sensation. The record debuted at number two on the Billboard charts, which was an incredible feat considering the duo was not signed to any label, and that they had released the title themselves. The Heist went on to go platinum, thanks to the four top twenty hits that were spun out from it, including two number ones: “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us”. Macklemore and Lewis took home several Grammys for the project, including Best Rap Album and Best New Artist.

Since then, the duo has been laying fairly low, which was likely on purpose, in order to hype their new album. Earlier this summer, Ed Sheeran joined the two on a heartwarming song about fatherhood (Macklemore became a father not too long ago) which served as a promotional release. “Downtown” is out just in time for the two to perform it at this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.

how did Lord Jamar lose?

I don't feel like reading the other couple of pages after my post.... but Jamar basically said Macklemore doesn't belong in hip hop & now mc's/artists who are far more accomplished than him are basically co-signing Macklemore.

and once again, that old dusty fakkit called Lord Jamar lost, more than most ppl have ever lost in hip hop ever b4 this :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::russ::russ::umad::umad::umad:

but basically the most important fact about this post & my opinion is that Macklemore fukking sucks!!!

good luck etc. :dead:

I like the old school Hip Hop vibe mixed with the classic rock/pop. Lol people hype a lot of artists for taking "creative chances", this is that, it's creative too and crafted well. I hope this becomes a radio record, would be good for Hip Hop and music. This shyt actually sounds a bit different from a lot of shyt out, and better than A LOT of shyt out. In all honesty I like the song better than Lupe and Kendrick's last album. And most or if not all of Yeezus. Better than Eminem's last shyt to me too and a lot of people hyped up. There's a story, narrative, conversational, lyrics are on point, interesting flow and flavour, some good inflections, showed love to some true Hip Hop legends and must have given them a nice cheque too which can always be happy about. The hook is dope, sounds like a big record. It's nice to hear that 70's/80's Hip Hop on a big new record, think I'll buy this joint. And will most probably listen to Macklemore's new project to see what it's like. Interesting and commendable...

Lord Jamar didn't say that, he said Macklemore was dope, his issue was the Same Love song/message.
