The CONSTANT stoppages in play makes today’s NFL & NBA damn near impossible to watch and I imagine it being hell in person to watch. Coaches have too many timeouts in the NBA. In the last couple of minutes, every close call leads to the ref twirling their fingers for long ass video reviews that can be resolved in a heartbeat by headquarters. Instead it’s 5 mins and a commercial break. When certain players/teams are on the court, it’s a march to the FT line and new rules triggering replay we didn’t even know existed. That’s not even mentioning the hack-a strategy that the tv networks deaded. It’s terrible. The NFL is similar with long ass replays after every scoring play and turnover, extra timeouts after special teams plays. 20-30 mins been added on average to every game for no reason. If XFL/AAF learn from that and keep these games moving and not give us time to check our phone/change channel/turn off the tv, they’ll have a chance.

If the season starts in February and lasts longer than 8 weeks, won't this end up clashing with the lead up to WM?:jbhmm:

Vince is about to become the CEO of #NoBookGang. :mjlol:

According to a new report from Sports Business Daily, the XFL, which is set to make its return in 2020, is reportedly in negotiations with both the FOX and ESPN networks regarding the broadcast rights to their league. The site claims that the league and both networks are currently “deep in discussions.”

The report also claims that numerous XFL games would air on ABC if ESPN gets the rights as both ABC and ESPN are owned by Disney and co-promote many of their games and big events, such as the NBA and the X-Games. The ABC Network does not currently feature any NFL games.

It should be noted that FOX will become the new home of Vince McMahon’s WWE SmackDown! Live broadcast beginning this October and the network is reportedly pushing more heavily into airing live programming following the sale of FOX Television as part of the FOX/Disney deal.

:dwillhuh: Are networks really THAT starved for live content? The possibility of XFL landing a deal on linear TV is nuts. The article says they might land linear deals too, they're not going to be on ESPN+.

ESPN needs content for ESPN+ and FOX is losing is selling their scripted production studio to Disney so they need content too.

Networks realized they can't keep up with streaming and premium shows due to the FCC so they've decided to double down on sports, news, reality and competition shows.

lol, this was almost a given the second USA and Fox laid down so much money for Raw and Smackdown. Networks are scrambling for live sports and a right-wing football league plays right into everything Fox wants.
