What are some "Industry Plants" that didn't work out?

How was Rocky a plant? Don't plants apply to people who clearly have no talent and make generic substandard music, hoping to cram it down the right throats?

Rocky created one of the craziest hip hop projects in several years. His buzz was so off-the-chain it led to mainstream acts wanting to associate themselves with him.

With that said, I am curious as to how Rocky actually came about. Never heard a thing about dude until "x new rapper has got 3 mil deal, and here's the track Purple Swag". I wonder what the lead up was to all that.

I'd say Troy Average is one in current motion. Saigon, even though he's very talented. Red Cafe. Asher Roth, Mac Miller, Macklemore, Mark Ronson, David Guetta, Slim Thug, Zro, and alot of others

i don't know, k dot has a whole body of work behind him before getting on, shyt is way more fishy when you got one song or one mixtape (that didn't generate radio/club spins) and then you come out signed with a beyonce feature, kanye co-sign, and 3 timbo beats
