He is wrong..he's not part of the hip hop culture and thus shouldn't speak on it
He's no less a part of it than you are. You're both entitled to your opinions.

Ehh, I'm guilty of having some of my favorite hiphop memories related to violent, misogynistic and negative music.
But truth be told, that shyt has run it's course now. It's been done to death and sounds like a parody of itself now. Would be nice for something fresh to take over in a new direction.

Ok grampsHe's absolutely right.
Rap music has become one of the worse things to ever happen to blacks collectively. It has absolutely DESTROYED the image of black people worldwide . It has reduced the image of the black man to drugdealers, thugs and gangbangers and the black woman to oversexualized thot whores. It's basically a modern-day Minstrel Show.
Not only that, it has kept blacks from rising to our true peak from a mental & spiritual perspective.....it's pretty much mental & spiritual poison at this point.
My rap consumption has decreased dramatically as my personal spirituality has increased.
I can no longer stomach lyrics about black death and destruction. I don't even like hearing too much profanity and N-word's in my music no more. It no longer sits right with my spirit.
Genres like drill being popular is a REFLECTION of the non-existent self-esteem & pride amongst blacks.
No other group would allow an artform that glorifies their own destruction and dehumanization to exist.
Not saying you gotta agree with me 100% but if you can't ATLEAST meet me halfway then I assume you have zero pride as a black person.
You're basically just a person with black skin.....no pride within.
